Why the hell Friday ?? that's spoilt the tie for many.

At a guess because we play Wigan on sky the following thursday. Does make it awkward for some though, myself included, and will probably knock a few off the gate.

I will have to book the Friday off to make this game so its a pain for me.
Won't be as well attended as a Sunday afternoon game.

I presume the Hull FC fixture still stands on Sunday 19th April?

The club have already stated that game is being re-arranged. New date to be announced.

We have Wire away the previous Saturday and then Wigan at home the following Thursday - on SKY.

It would make no sense from a rugby POV to hold it after the Friday.

I think this is the right choice for the club, even if it doesn't suit everyone - which is rarely the case anyway!

Also, with a 7.30 kick off - and Saints playing Leeds that night on SKY, there will be a chance to watch that game delayed in the club afterwards.



The bigger picture for me here is the corruption to the weekly match preparation caused by extending the playing to days to 4 - i.e. any of Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun - the effect of this on coaching and recovery timescales within our sport must be horrendous!

Isn't it obvious? We're a part-time club who are already at a disadvantage so making it a Friday night game increases that disadvantage.

What's to expand they changed it end of story

The change was announced last season.
Top 8 in SL enter the Challenge Cup one round later.
Bottom 4 enter in 5th round.

For me, the idea is very poor and it makes things even more difficult for the lower ranked clubs and reduces the chance of
a "plum" draw for some of the minions taking part.

Also, for last seasons top 8 in SL, 3 wins and you are going to Wembley, a little bit o cup romance has gone.

Must admit, I don't like the 'seeding' side of the Cup draw.
Definitely the romance of a giant kill have been all but extinguished.
Wasn't there a big fuss a few years back when Leeds drew Saints in the 'first round proper' and the outcry was that the Challenge Cup wouldn't be the same without one of these two?
Think they brought the seeding in next season to prevent this.
Put the balls in a bag and see who gets who, simple.
