Just out of interest can anyone on here with a bit more knowledge tell us what the situation is with the proposed plan to build a new stadium on green belt land? I know its the lateral property group that plan to build a long with retail units - Sounds very familiar.

A few Cas fans I have spoke to think it will be quite a smooth process, think they have had a few residents in the area objecting to the build.

Will be interesting to see if this has as many problems as Newmarket.

AFAIK the land the build is proposed for was the alternative the opposition were putting forward for NM.

As we've found out, nothing is straight forward when it comes to the planning process. 10 years would be the minimum time frame for such a project.

There canvassing for every one to sign for support of the proposed build,if it was as straight forward as they think a double decker bus full of T shirts wouldn't be needed.

Neither will an open topped bus.

Peter Box wants the new ground to be built at Cas. Therefore it will happen in record time. Box picks his cabinet members from the East and picks people who value the money they `earn ` from it, they do as he says as they fear been pushed of the gravy train. Whist ever the people of Wakefield keep returning Box and his cronies to power nothing will change, so nothing will change as the people of Wakefield will always vote Labour. You appear very knowledgeable and I suppose have evidence to back it up or is it just a rant based on your own personal bias. I may be wrong but the last time I checked Castleford were still playing at their old ground and I haven't heard of any concrete developments on a new one.

It may just be a rant but, it is without doubt that Mr Box and 2 of our local MP's are very much on favour at the "Mend-a-hose Jungle" and there would certainly be a strong whiff of favouritism, should the development sail through without all of the hoops and hurdles that Newmarket has had.

Having said that, they seem to have their fair share of NIMBYS over there as well.

Was our proposal not approved by the council but called in by Mr Pickles delaying it by quite some time. The last time I heard Mr Pickles was not a strong Labour supporters or that of local government.

well, you know what to do come election time dont vote labour,hit them in the ballot box where it hurts.its the only thing they understand and its the only weapon we have.

Regardless of any political persuasion the behaviour of Mr Box in that video is truly appalling. He clearly holds the attitude that he is right and how dare anybody - especially the three UKIP members - challenge his knowledge and views.

Never mind them what's happening with Newmarket/Belle Vue redevelopment? Thought action was planned sooner rather than later.

Arrogant lover - he has the air of someone who knows he's in a safe seat, and treats the whole Council process like his personal fiefdom.

As for what's happening with Newmarket - the disdainful way he dealt with the Trust member who called in to Yorkshire Radio on the matter the other week, suggests that absolutely nothing is happening, nor is it likely to.

It's BV or bust, and I'm betting that YCP don't contribute a bean.

I suggest that the labour party is not in any way the labour party that your Grandad would recognise. What Wakefield needs is some sort of coalition that would teach labour members how to work with others rather than bully and ride roughshod over anyone or anything that does not suit their own agenda as they do now.

Box has no interest in Wakefield his power base is the East of the district, he keeps the East happy he keeps power. I think he must have had a bad experience whilst a student a QEGS that created a hatred for Wakefield

Sadly his reply would be that they are and would refer to the, mostly unecessary, vast expenditure on Wakefield One and now the Civic Quarter (you know, where he and his cronies hang out during the day) along with the money they pour into the Hepworth and the help they have given to Trinty Walk. Gives him great cover to avoid doing anything to support the cities only professional club bearing its name. The mans an ass and he will ensure that there is no help to sort the Newmarket problem and the new Cas stadium gets all the political weight he can possibly muster to get it over the line. As has been said it's Belle Vue or bust but if that relies on Yorkcourt stumping up, which it does, then sadly the old girl isn't likely to be changing in appearance anytime soon.

You are probably right but the chances of the Labour vote in Wakefield dropping is slim to none so they will get their way for a good while yet.

This cannot be tackled by Trinity supporters fighting a battle about a promised stadium, it must be fought on the genuine grounds of promised community sports facilities!

Wakefield finished rock bottom of a survey of the UKs biggest City's in terms of sporting facilities per capita, that's a huge embarassment to WMDC and requires rectifying. The problem is there's no money so the Comunity Sports facilities at Newmarket, funded largely by York Court Properties were a godsend.

York Court Properties & Colin Mackie only received their planning permission because of the promised delivery of Community Sports and Leisure Facilities and a Stadium fit for Super League use.

YCP should have been LEGALLY OBLIGED to build those much needed sports and leisure facilities for the good of the Wakefiled citizens but a leaky S106 document has allowed YCP to shaft Wakefield residents and tax payers.

That Peter Box, any other Council Member or local MP should attempt to shrug this off as not their issue would be a dereliction of duty to the Communities they serve and who voted them in, it would be a betrayal of the trust placed in those officials by Wakefield Tax payers.

So this leaky S106 agreement - who actually agreed to it ? Anyone representing WTW or was it all down to that naughty man Peter Box ?
