| We could soon be on 6 points. Wigan will be bashed and have come back from Aus in the same week. Our guys have had an extra week together and will be wanting to prove a point. If we can significantly improve ball retention and play through the forwards bashing theirs and running hard and straight, I can see a win. Catalans without Deuraux are different than with him and they are not playing well. Can see us with a win. We then play London. Must win game. If all this occurs the mood on this board will be in stark contrast. In Agar we trust

| I like your thinking - conversely, though there may be an almighty backlash at Wigan. Shaun Wane will, I'm sure, have kicked a few backsides. I personally feel only a monumental improvement by us will prevent a rout by Wigan.
More positive with the other two fixtures but, again, only with a great improvement!

Get the impression there are some on here who prefer the moaning to the rugby. Agree in part, Wigan could be tired and some of our team might recognise each other now, after a ten days working together and everyone writing us off, we have nothing to lose. It's worth remembering though it's very early days for this squad, we lost a lot of experience but we've gained a few players with a point to prove. It's all part of the roller coaster of being a Trinity fan isn't it?

There's some who live in the real world and see the massive gap between us and Wigan.

I agree there is a huge gap, player for player they'd wipe the floor with us, but for anyone under the age of fifty it's always been the case, yet on occasion we've grabbed a result from somewhere. Give the team and the coach time and they'll hopefully avoid the bottom two. If so job done. Next season build upon what we've got.

I really admire your optimism but I prefer to deal in realism. I find it extremely hard to believe, but we may get on top of their pack. However I would say that our first choice [uavailable[/u 1 to 5 is probably the worst we have ever had in SL, just compare that to the players Wigan have. That's where they will find our weakness and will win the game.
Then again I hope I am made to look foolish on Monday morning

| Hit em hard for the first 20 and try and match them, they'll tire in the closing stages.
Its possible, I'm not changing my prediction though!!

| Love the glimmer of optimism in this thread, long may it continue.
Wigan is a really important game for me..... I don't think we will beat what is a formidable team (but I would NOT bet against us, that really would be the Trinity way!) - however there could be no better time to play them. I'm not sure about a backlash as such, they did themselves proud in Australia against (in my view) a far superior team: I would've expected a Wane-rollicking inspired backlash if they'd underperformed massively or embarrassed themselves.... but for me they didn't.
I think the following two games are very winnable, but it will depend on how we come out of the Wigan game. If the pies stuff us then we could lose the next two, if we are creditable (win or lose) against Wigan then that will prepare us for two important wins against Le Catalans and London.
Come on you Trin.

| it's just like us to go to Wigan and beat them after a pretty terrible performance last week in a game we were expected to win, so i'm not writing us off. Might put a cheeky bet on

| I fear the brave performance but narrow defeat that we usually put in against these lot.
oops just realised that's not very positive. However I don't think last Thursday was as bad as some people are making out and would have been fine had a couple of things gone our way early in the game.

| Seen some tweets from Agar's press confrence which say Briscoe and Crowther could make their debits so sounds like we may have some fresh legs.
I have seen a bit of Crowther and I like him and he looked good in the friendlies but what a game to make your debut in.

Catalan and London I'm positive about.

Yeah definitely think we have a reasonable chance against Catalan, London shouldn't be too much of a problem but will need to make sure the players don't underestimate them. Looking further forward, even Saints at home and HKR away are winnable games.

| It's time to do our talking on the pitch. We know on our day we can beat anyone but our inconsistency has baffled me for longer than I can remember. We looked like a decent team 2nd half v Salford then it all went pear shaped when we played Bradford. We'll probably beat Wigan then come up short against Catalans. Whatever happens, you can always guarantee a roller coaster ride, a win when you don't expect it then a dropped ball fest and struggle the next time. If over the next few weeks we can get a steady level of performance I will be happy because the results will come. We have some firepower now to create chances, let's see us playing for 80 minutes not in fits and starts and we'll be fine.

Get out of it, I clearly remember a back line that contained both Paul White, a very young Luke George and Austin Buchannan and I can't believe we can do worse than that.

Saints at home ?
I don't think many teams will get over the top of Saints this season.
IMO they are real contenders this term so, I wont be expecting anything from them.
Their pack is possibly the best in the comp !

I would say our current wingers are better than in a few games in 2007 when we had Paul White and Wayne Pryce.

Never mind possibly, it is the best pack in the league.
Salford will find out tonight.
