| Wouldn't consider him at all. Hope it is an unfounded rumour.
He has no form as a coach as far as I know and he has been banned for two years for taking a banned performance enhancing drug. I don't really want him teaching the next generation of Wakefield youth to be honest.
Liked him when he played for us but that doesn't outway the points above for me.
(edited as my previous wording might have been too strong)

| Shocking news if true. Bailed out on the club during tough times and drugs cheat. Wouldn't want him near my kids or the club.

| Razza will be an asset for your club. He made a mistake, everyone deserves a second chance. If anything he can share his experiences of why you shouldn't go off track. He's a top professional though & I think he'll be a good 20's coach (assuming thats the role he's going into)

| I believe he co-owns [url=http://eliterugbyacademy.com/this company[/url, so he's not a complete stranger to coaching, albeit at an entirely different level.

Welcome to the super judgemental never learn world that is RLfans forum.
Ben is not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy - sorry couldn't resist.

| He came upto to Stanley and trained with us whilst Gary Lord was our coach, had alot of input into the training drills we did, joined in and was a top bloke... Obviously made a big mistake but who hasnt... Also heard he does alot in the community with kids training camps... Give him a chance to prove the doubters wrong...

What about those doubters who were proved right when he bailed out on us by commiting himself to Cas half way through our season. Couldn't make eye contact with anybody at the forum evenings because he knew he had bail out planned before any official deadlines. That's before the drugs incident!
Soon jumped ship again at Cas when the "Grass" looked greener over at Odsal.
Not suitable for coaching youngsters and I would certainly, for the 1st time ever in a life of supporting Trin, advise young relatives to avoid him.

There is no doubt he was guilty, made worse by his badge kissing antics. However that's a long time ago - if he's the man for the job then so be it for me - frankly I don't know enough about him or the roll within the club to really judge.

Agree, couldn't give a monkeys what he did in his past, as long as he learned from his mistakes and it made him a better person, we as a club want the best bloke for the job and if it's him so be it.

Would you know enough about Ben Johnson to allow him to coach your kids/grandkids if they were budding athletes?

| The difference between Ben and Ryan Hudson is that one made some mistakes in his personal life and one (it appears to me) tried to cheat at the sport.
I didn't like BC coming in. I thought it gave the club a bad image but he instantly proved me wrong with his attitude. As it was off field antics that casued the problem, his on field performance and attitude could change my mind.
Taking drugs in sport is not the same. It has been alledged that it was a pain killer he took on holiday and that may be the case but I don't like it and think there are better people for the job given that background.
His sister being really fit only partly makes up for the mistake
However, I don't run the club so we will have to see how it goes.

I have no vested interest in Hudson either way - however he was banned for taking a drug containing a stimulant perscribed on holiday, without his knowledge he claimed. However the RFL rightly said ignorance was no excuse. However silly he was not to check and he is more than smart enough to know this he is hardly in the same class as Ben Johnson. He also paid the price, 2 years.
So yes I would let him coach my kids, in fact why wouldn't I unless you're suggesting he's a pusher which really is a bit OTT.

| Wouldnt say we were mates, but I have met him on a few occasions and found him to be a decent lad. Very approachable and his knowledge of the game is second to none.
He got caught, he served his ban. Let he who without sin and all that!
As long as he got the job on merit then i dont see a problem with it.

I thought we gave him a chance when Wakefield plucked him out of the obscurity of the Shuddersfield make weights back in John Harbin's day. All he did was use Wakefield until it suited him. He's hit the buffers again and must have very few options so Wakefield will do nicely till he can get somewhere he really wants. Admittedley not quite worth refusing to renew our season tickets but very close!

I see your point about 'he without sin' but I haven't taken a banned drug so I'm putting myself lower down the sin list than him.
I know I'm being judemental and unfortgiving but I am very much against drugs in sport.
I guess my issue is that I don't get the "it was a pain killer prescribed on holiday".
Firstly, as a professional sportsman, unless you were given it while under
anaesthetic, then you should have checked it out.
Secondly, and I'd love it if someone could show me the evidence as I would completely back down but if you were caught with steroids in your ystem, wouldn't you blame it on a holiday pain killer rather than say yes I was cheating?
I'm usually the one saying we should wait and see but banned drugs are banned drugs for a reason as far as I am concerned.

There are far worse things in life than "banned drugs." I'm very much of the he's made a mistake, he's paid for it - he has a wealth of knowledge and experience playing at the highest level and I for one am pleased to see him return to pass this on to the youngsters at Wakey.
As for another posters comments about jumping ship - as you know it is only a short career, players must go where the money/trophies are as they are usually retired from the game at least 30 years before they hit true retirement age. With the greatest respect, rugby players aren't known for their towering intellects - so have to make the most of the career while they can.

Personally think everyone should be given a second chance but I think it's a bit strange how you seem to make a distinction just because Cockayne's done well since he's come over here and looks a reformed character but ateotd he was caught on cctv kicking the hell out of someones head. Not sure why Hudson isn't given the same leeway seen as he's served his time and put back into the community and been a good pro since his return. Seems ABH is more forgivable than a doping offense, or am I wrong here?
