RW has his no longer the CEO of Cas he has stepped down
www.castigers.com/article.php?id=2380
Found this little paragraph interesting
"The new stadium and youth development are the keys to a sustainable future and winning trophies. Things are gloomy at the moment but the platform for success has been set, the Club has the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
he mentions at the end the new stadium project wont be affected hes dead right there!

He's been holding them back for years do this is a significant development.
Has he sold up though? because being the largest share holder he could still mess things up from afar!!

The thoughts of many of us. A much more suitable person for the role, And RW going will attract a load of new investors (Not a take over, But more investment)

Mixed bag. On the field very good, off the field not so good - I know from experience.
Steve is an honest guy who knows more than most about British RL. What he isn't is a good administrator or politician, or at least not as good as he thinks he is.
You should see a big change on the field - expect to see a drift to NM don't expect to see SF pull a rabbit out of the hat with Glasshoughton.

You do have a touchingly simplistic view of the world, you and your scapegoats
You have some plausibility with Ted but RW for all his faults is far from the only problem at Cas. Because he is the CEO and thus the mouthpiece makes him very visible but there are many others at Cas equally culpable if not more so - to say the loss of RW will release the shackles on Cas is a huge exaggeration IMHO - it will take a bigger cull than just him.
RW just like Ted made a big gamble regarding franchise and the ground that simply didn't pay off. It cost Ted and the club everything, in RW 's case it may only cost the club.To me it looks like he's getting out before it's to late and so he can distance himself - he's not as stupid as folk think.

| What I heard about Steve Ferres is that he has a low boredom threshold. Move in, do a good job, be a hit, move on. My impression of him with us is that he made us seem more of a professional outfit.

| RW's statements seem to be characterised by the need to have a pop at other clubs, perhaps to deflect attention from his own failings; this one is no different.

Correct in my experience. Very enthusiastic to start with then boredom and the inevitable clashes with authority happen and he's off. Problem is Steve wants to own a SL club but can't find the cash required. Until then he won't be happy and even then may not be.
Short term though I reckon there is no finer fixer in the game.

| Tend to agree with vastman is he getting out so when/if the sticky stuff hits the fan he can plead "nothing to do with me".Hes still a shareholder and director much the same as one that stood aside at another club before things hit the fan.Its quite odd that all this time hes been resolute in that hes the chairman and no matter what had no intention of standing down or so it looked.Nothing I would love more is for both clubs to be in the top 4 season on season just to put it up those at the rfl.

Where in my post did i suggest he was the ONLY person who was keeping Cas back?
This thread is about RW standing down, nobody else, so if sticking to the point of the thread is being simplistic then i guess i am.
FWIW the whole lot of em (Board of Directors) are culpable for Castleford's problems, but without question RW "has held them back" as i posted, by his inability to bring to fruition the GH/New Stadium situation while spinning the "its on the horizon" theory.
Is he jumping ship before some really bad news? Is he being pushed in order to avert really bad news? Who knows??
Clearly there are other problems at Cas as the article with McGoldrick pointed out, over the last few years players having to defer their wages etc etc.

| We will be sharing with Cas - it is inevitable, and has to make sense.
Remember it is going to be a community stadium and Cas is part of the WMDC community.
People on this forum talk about the great rivalry between these two clubs - with a shared stadium holding 12000+ derby games could be the rival of all the other so called big derbies, the place could be absolutely jumping! If we each have a stadium they will never be filled.......simple as!

| From a fans perspective, I dont want cas sharing newmarket with us - They're our 'cross city rivals' and id love to see us bigger better faster and stronger with them getting left behind.
However, we all know that a ground share makes sense for so many reasons, and with us as the anchor tennant, It would no doubt crop up in the "we're better than you because" arguments.
Ive always regarded RW as a bit of a spin doctor, and I cant help but thinking he's stepped aside because he knows there is bad news looming for cas.

| For every logical and financial reason it makes absolute sense, but from a RL sense it makes none.
Sadly the RL one wins, or things will have to change.

I wouldn't mind sharing if it was clear that we were not M................. Both clubs could use the NM stadium like Italian football and american grid iron thing teams do. But thats it.

| Beware of another consequence of ground sharing, that is
Another excuse to create a merger either by incentives from the RL or Super league leaving room for another expansion club
Expansion is and has always been Sky's mandate to tempt customers
