Thats terrible if true losing out to Cas. He will get some stick next year but what will be funnier if we get Newmarket and Cas don't get a ground; Milldred will be burying his head in the sand.

well apparently Morgan and Gentle turned down cas after being offered the job for 'Better' Jobs. Mildred was there third choice

someone from the club asked a betting friend of mine to try get a significant amount of money on millward to get wakey jobas hed just signed a contract. luckily its almost impossible to get a bet on new coaches for rugby league sides after the brian noble gamble when he joined wigan.

Probably fifth, Noble walked out of his interview once budgets were discussed.

the silly thing is none of us no anything at all.... its all rumours, by all accounts millward wasnt 1st choice but was the only one who didnt mess about...gentles agent been doing the rounds

Why is it terrible? Castleford are a better outfit all round? He made the right decision.

That's your opinion - fair enough - it's trolling ignorant rubbish not backed up by any facts - but fair enough.

I think you'll find that we offered Millward what we thought he was worth and, having been rejected by Morgan, Noble and Gentle before him, Cas trumped that offer in order to secure a HC.

That was either a strategically brilliant move, or an over-estimation of his value born out of desperation.

Time will tell.

And any bookie would be very suspicious of a large amount wagered on such a thing!

I have read quite alot of coments on here about Cas paying out massive sums of money to lure Milward away from you, well all I can say is if any of you knew anything about our BOD you would realise what utter nonsense that is. No way would Cas pay out huge bucks for a coach like Milward I thinks its more a case of if he was in for the Wakey job he saw Cas as better option and I base that soley on looking back over the last couple of season in SL. but if any of you can provide a link to back up your claims then I will stand corrected.

I love it when people include that line, knowing full well that it isn't possible to provide a link to a conversation; I'm not a call centre - I don't record my chats with people 'for quality and training purposes.'

As it goes, I didn't suggest that Cas offered Millward a 'huge' sum of money - just that they offered more than WTW did, which was an offer that they felt reflected his worth. Personally, I'm glad we stood our ground - if he was good enough to make big wage demands, someone else would have had him away from Leigh before now.

Time will tell if Cas' desperation has lead them to take on an overpaid dud, or not.

Maybe we did offer the job to Millward maybe we didn't but he is at Cas now so it doesn't matter. We have to look at whoever our new coach is going to be and give him the chance to prove himself at Wakey.
