| Says in LE that the game against Leeds will be promoted during Emmerdale and Coronation Street this week. Significant cost involved but what a way to promote the club. I am sure AG will maximise the club and his business.
fantastic news and well done by the club, onwards and upwards.

| Interesting. Good and all that, but wouldn't publicity be best used for a game where we aren't guaranteed a big gate for?

| Perhaps, but a game against Crusaders would not capture the imagination of a casual attendee regardless of how much TV exposure is given to it, where as a fixture against the biggest side in the competition just might. It's as much about attracting new support with a big match experience as trying to entice the stay aways, who still seem to be avoiding BV even after all the hot air that there are thousands just waiting for Ted to go before they sat foot in the ground again.

If I had a strategy for a franchise and the collapsing time frames then this may prove to be a very shrewd investment, on ITV with no RL coverage a first for Wakefield.
great news in IMHO. I do agree around the marketing though this has been the achilles heel of the club again IMHO

Makes sense. I'm not knocking it, and it won't be cheap, I just hope ideas are up their sleeves for the games where we will get low gates because we can't rely on the away fans to boost the numbers up. Hopefully we have new marketing ideas these days and not rely on the same-old ones we had under the old regime.

i agree, if your going to set off with this kind of promotion, why not against our big city neighbours, capture the imagination of the wakefield (soap opera watching) public.
As for the fans coming back, the damage will take a while to repair, i know of quite a few who have come back on the strength of ted just not being involved, but its going to take a lot more than that, results such as fridays, good team performances, a few astute signings and some more clever marketing ideas, and we'll definately be heading in the right direction though.
Thousands i think is perhaps over egging it a bit as far as being solely at the feet of ted, however i would guess our two gates are up on last years?? but whatever the number, and looking at last seasons attendances against historic attendances at BV in our not too distant past, the amount of non attending wakey fans is quite high and should be the clubs target market.
With the utter mess our club was left in, its clear that Ted was unable to recover this support for what ever reason and we could not afford to, hopefully marketing and promotion and a bit of tlc to the regulars will go along way to putting us back where we would like to be.

I hope so too. In the short time Andrew Glover has been chairman it is noticeable how many supporters ideas on this forum appear to have been taken on by the club. They seem a little more willing to try new things to maximise business. Personally, I still don't think you can beat public appearances in the town centre in the run up to a home match to boost ticket sales. Your target audience is right there, spending money. The players and Daddy Cool are the best assets the club has in the battle to entice support. By getting the general public to identify and relate to them is worth countless tv adverts in my opinion.

Please tell me our target audience is not the people who i regularly see frequenting Wakefield city centre!!!!
On a more serious note, i agree, players out n about is a great marketing tool and should be applied more often, i still don't recognise a lot of the newer players yet, they all seem to look a like and so damn young!!

| Great idea.....at a big cost too.
For me you promote Leeds and Cas games as they are the biggest draw. When(If) they are sell outs, it will advertise itself.
The other way round, a 5-7000 crowd against Crusaders might be good for us but still isn't going to impact the game or media.

| Agree with the above that the best marketing would be in town centre. supermarkets, schools, community centres also have ideal target audiences.
As simple as hand flyers through peoples doors within the locality of the stadium.
The marketing has improved and long may it continue.

The problem I guess we have is that we haven't any real star players, Morrison aside, so we have to make stars out of what we have.
I used to watch a lot of the Sheffield Steelers, and the hype they created to attract crowds to an alien sport was fantastic. Making stars out of third-rate Canadians who didn't make it in the NHL…sounds familiar. And the product on the ice, fast, exciting, aggresive, lived up to the hype. A winning team also helped.
In all seriousness, the club would do well to get in touch with Dave Simms from the Steelers, I'm sure some of the ideas used by them then and now could be used or adapted by us to help create a buzz. That, and having been the PA man at the Sheffield Arena, could give some tips on that too.
Or we keep doing what we did, and get what we got.

| Seems like a big investment into a small market for me?
Your showing this ad across the yorkshire region. Would people only in Wakefield and local areas be intrested?
I know Wigan did this last year but it also featured Warrington.
Would it not be better advertsing on Ridings FM?

Point taken.
Although their money is just as good as anyone else’s (and I wouldn’t mind my taxes indirectly been used to buy tickets for Wakefield Trinity matches! ).
I can only imagine what the vexed up people propping themselves up against the side of the Cathedral will think when they see a 6ft Cat strutting around.

Got to be, an ideal opportunity, especially if the club are going to have a club in the development.

a nett increase of 1451 or 725.5 (spectators per game) x 14 (home games) = 10,157 x £20 (total guess as we dont know who is paying full, or how many more discounted games we will have) = £203,140.00p
That = one Superstar and a couple of juniors. that is why it is so important and that is why under ted we were in the doo doo!!!
They say you can prove what you want with statistics, so lets see where we are at the end of the season.
