It up to Leeds as a club to decide. The RFL should keep out as it would set a (relatively) dangerous precedent.

It's a warning to players not to say in public what they would to friends in private, and don't accept friend requests on Facebook with people you don't know!

Fortunately all sportsmen do not have to take IQ tests, this is especially good news for the likes of Ryan Bailey.
However who hasnt received or sent such a "joke" or posted something stoopid on Facebook/Twitter etc.
A bit of a grip on reality from the "hang em brigade" and a note of caution to the likes of Mr Bailey, who is supposed to be a roll model to the younger more impressionable members of our family game.

Whilst ever I see right on politically correct comedians on he BBC slagging off anyone slightly to the right of Lenin then anything goes. Leeds may well have a word but i don't think the RFL should, i don't on a personal level find this stuff amusing. I do wonder though if these comments had been made by other players, would it cause such a stir or is it because its Bailey?

For gods sake get a life - humour is a natural response to disaster and stress. The earliest form of cinema relied heavily on 'slapstick' humour - i.e. cruel laughter at others misfortunes because its human nature. This is no different, and I dare bet that those who contribute to relief charities will laugh at some of the jokes.

As much as I dislike Bailey I think he will have been hard done to if he is disciplined for this. A joke is exactly that, it's not meant to be taken seriously and 99% of the time doesn't reflect the actual views of the person who tells it.

Probably so but imagine if I some middle aged home county type wished the same on former terrorist Nelson Mandela, Hardy would explode with indignation. Funny thing is Hardy and his ilk are so painfully in denial of their own middle class credential it would probably be his dad who said it - get out of that one Hardy!

There is a fair amount of outrage on this thread about something that hasn't even happened yet; the RFL haven't indicated that they'll be taking any action against Bailey and you 'political correctness gone made' types are alrady spluttering all over your Daily Mail letters pages.

I would be surprised if Leeds don't take some action though; as his employer, they are vicariously liable for his actions and are perfectly within their rights to censure things that he says in public that could bring them into disrepute.

The jokes don't make me think any less of him than I already did, and I agree it is a free country and he can say what he likes.

However, because of the job he does, he represents his empoyer at all times and because of this they have said they want to investigate.
Personally, I would discipline him for it. I wouldn't scak him for it........though personally i wouldn't have employed him in the first place.

The thing with Bailey is, it isn't his first time at making Leeds look stupid. He may have already been given warnings that we don't know and this will just tip the balance.

One thing though......if he is sacked, please don't start a thread saying we should sign him. I'd rather play Davey and Wildie at prop.

Experts actually say people deal with trauma with humour, I'm sure the Japs are trying to lighten each others moods. Much as I hate Bailey and the fact refs give him and Leeds' forwards of the past too much protection a joke is just a joke. A prop as a role model 'should' be tough btw and uncompromising.

There is nothing tough and uncompromising about taking the mickey out of 1000s of people dieing and many more losing everything they have.
