Not listened to it all but basically he believes there is a bright future for the club whatever happens re franchising. The administration doesn't prevent us from applying for a new licence, but there is a weighting on financial matters so will effect overall rating

| Said nothing really, he tried to be positive about the future. Didn't like the bit about insolvency weighing against a SL licence when asked by the interviewer but mr Rimmer then added other aspects count towards the licence as well.
It doesn't look good administation, no ground and poor season ticket sales. This could be the low point, it will probably cost us a SL licence this time. We have to now build for the next time and get that right.

| When will people realise we have NO chance of a licence. We wasn't getting one before the last lot of brown stuff hit the fan, we are certainly not going get one now, rich new owner or not. Forget about it and start making plans to rebuild in the championship for three years then try again. Rebuild the club out of the media glare into something the the governing body can't refuse next time out.

| Basically, yes its been a tough time, yes theres people interested in the club and yes the club has a future. The most significant part is that he admitted that it will count against us when it comes to handing out the licences. So we are buggered effectively.

Sadly i agree, there is no point in wasting time and effort on this anymore. We at the moment must have the weakest application. The point is with new owners on board we can come back stronger. We can have 3 years to get the stadium we want and deserve and 3 years to prepare for the next application. Make sure they can not refuse us next time.

| The financial situation of the club counts against it in the same way poor attendances do, but great community work counts for it. Swings and roundabouts. Was ever thus.

If we are it won't be that. The RFL are not totally stupid nor is the franchise system.
If we get a new BOD with the ability to bankroll the new club effectively and Newmarket takes a more positive direction (which I think it will) then we have a very good chance. RL is not exactly overflowing with money men, even the RFL recognise that. The key is we need to drive Newmarket on and we need real money invested in the club and that's the rub.
Newmarket either will or won't happen all people can do is push it. However for the club to keep it's SL place and progress in the meantime will require serious
investment which without Newmarket being a certainty is a leap of faith.
We simply have to hope that one of the four buyers has the money and the will. SL retention is very possible with the right circumstances.

Wrong, we should make every effort to hold on to it, if we fail then we plan for the next application.
Thats like being 24 points down with 20 mins left, you should never give in without a fight.

nail on the head.....what sort of a business plan is that, someone to bankroll the club....surely the idea is the new BOD put a business plan together that demonstrates WTW can become a financially sound business, if the BP shows it takes 3 or 4 years (including it hinging on a new stadium to hopefullly attract new fans) until WTW are a financially sound business then what merrit can they award the licence....
sorry if this statement makes people think i'm a nob!!

Agree, and added to that, if we simply give up on the license now and don't put a good case forward then it will count against us next time too. If we lose our license we should be making it a very hard decision for them.

| Apply by all means would be silly not too ( and also show complete lack of respect TBH)
Unfortunatley though I can't see WTW or WT as you may be known by then getting a franchise but at this stage I do agree and think its for the RIGHT reasons. You will be starting a fresh and as is the ways with most things you need to start at the bottom and work your way up.
Will you do it - definatley you have enough dedicated and loyal supporters to work your way back up. Can't see it being this time or the next though.
Crusaders are a perfect example of the RFL getting it wrong and Widnes are a perfect example of what you need to do. Heads down hard graft and the future is bright.

| At a meeting last night it was confirmed by the RFL that they hadn’t even discussed whether there would be promotion from the Championship to SL in three years. There probably will be but they haven’t decided on the criteria that a Championship club must meet in order to qualify.
Maybe they will preclude clubs from the heartlands of the game from applying in an attempt to spread the game geographically. Ralph Rimmer is a self confessed expansionist, he's also gone on record saying that a Cumbrian club should be included in the SL at some point in the future so there's no guarantees that we'll get back in IF we’re thrown out.
We need to fight tooth and nail; to the very end for our SL existence and I for one won't accept throwing in the towel

Depends who they want, then they write the criteria to fit. This time round being a case in point at least until Fax 'massaged' their final game crowd figures

| Theres no doubt we should apply with the most robust application we can produce. Sadly though I don't think it will make any difference as i'm convinced the decision was made a long time ago. And I share the concerns that the drawbridge will be pulled up in the not too distant future and if we are out we'll stay out.
Then again the RFL move the goalposts that often god only knows.

| The thing I worry about, if we do lose the license bid, is, who makes way in 3 years, if things go our way and we get the stadium and the backer. If all the clubs have decent stadiums by then, what will separate the bids, will it come down to who's got the best stadium, the most money and wins the championship, or where Sky want to see a new team. Like others on here have said, once your out, it will be very hard to get back in. Even if the club has met all the requirements, you would be almost waiting on other clubs down falls, which isn't what this should be about.

| At the end of the day money talks, if whoever takes over can satisfy the RFL they can bank roll the club comfortably. Criteria or not that will have an unofficial say in the license awards. As it has already been stated there are not many money men in RL and one more is only going to be better for the governing body.

| The RFL have set the benchmark with their assistance of the Crusaders and Harlequins in the past using this model they cannot get rid of our club just because we have gone into adminstration. The RFL will know if they get rid of us they will show their true colours of double standards reguarding certain SL clubs, they cannott have one rule for one and another rule for Wakefield. i would imagine the new owners will fight tooth and nail to keep us in SL and stop any injustice. If we move to Newmarket in 2013 and have Barnsley as a stop gap in 2012, whats the difference between that and Crusaders moving from Bridgend to Wrexham??? Since we won the grand final in 1998 we have had to fight to stay in SL, whats the difference now? NO SURRENDER!!!

There's an old saying "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". For a supporter of a club who's finances are not great, who don't have a new ground and who are yet to receive there final tax bill you're awfully cocky.
If I were you I'd shut up as I suspect you may be eating humble. I'm not saying Tricky Dicky has led Cas quite as far down disaster road but I know there are rocky times ahead for all clubs you included. Others will bite go the same route as us in short order IMO. I have no reason to think you will be one, I also have no reason to think you won't. If it happens let's see if you're still taking the high ground.
Yes the statement along with most of your others does make you look a total knob.
