| So reading between the lines its saying that Wakefield Council have used the opportunity to win a few points by regurgatating old news to make it look like its not them who have scuppered our plans.

I read it as who gets the funding its not the clubs, this makes the stadium race even more interesting around funding. Wakefield have the Community trust (Wakefield Community Trust and the Wildcats Trust are different) Castleford have a similar set up but not sure on the make of them all.

| You can read an awful lot between the lines of that statement. Some of it will also come across as sour grapes, given our current situation, but the point about the various trusts and the benefits accruing from the land loans is a good and valid one.

| Yes it is interesting isn't it, the only question I would ask is how have wakefield managed to utilise some of it already if the deal was not confirmed untill tuesday. I have probbably just got the wrong end of the stick and I am trying to make a seriouse point (not a trolling one). Does anyone on here Know what the conformation was for on tuesday if people had already been Makeing use of the deal anyway.

| I was just about to ask the same.
"I am pleased to confirm that the Wakefield and District Community Trust, formed by Sir Rodney Walker in 2008, has already been able to utilise some of this funding source which was first made available by Wakefield Council in 2009."
That statement seems to raise more questions than it answers.

The only funding I’m aware of the WDCT using was the loan to pay for the initial design fees that the council guaranteed, whether or not the highlight exert is in relation to that I don’t know.

| Actual Bigalf, it doesn't, and I suspect your questions are best asked of Richard and Castleford rather than Diane and Wakefield!!!
Firstly, I am not trying to get take sides in the Wakefield v Castleford thing, as I want you both to stay in SL and get new grounds, my support for Newmarket is as a local resident... if I lived in GH, I would be actively supporting that!
It is simple, a local authority can not just give money, or assets, or anything to a ltd company... simple as... it is illegal and quite frankly immoral, and bloody risky (in general, no slight on Wakefield's and Castleford's finances BTW).
So in order to access the funds you need to be and have a trust, which can of course have links to a ltd company for many reasons. I suspect Wakefield have been asked questions by fans and others, and as such they felt the need to clarify their position!
So the legitimate questions of RW and Castleford is, where is the trust and why have you not already set one up to access the money so far, that has always struck me as been odd but I have not said anything before as it is nothing to do with me... and I am not having a go... I want you both to get a new ground.

That could be it then but i didn't think that was part of the land loan I thought that came out of a totaly different pot. I am sure that someone on here will know be it SWC or TRB.

I think they are just confirming that they have already used some of this money (the loan you speak of is this money), so Wakefield's pot is clearly now not the full £2m.

It was a loan from the HBOS I think, but as the WDCT has no tangible assists in which to borrow against, the council needed to guarantee the loan; perhaps the council then guaranteed this figure against the £2M value of the proposed land loan, but I am just speculating.

It could be that the trust had got a particular use of the money and were in a position to spend it, whereas Cas might not have all there funds in place and at that stage and could not make use of it who knows, one thing for sure though is that Mr Wright will have known what was happening if of course there was something amiss and must have been acceptable to the club otherwise something would have been said instead of nervous fans looking for something which in all probability is nothing.

They have just extend it mate (for both clubs), as the press release said, it has been available since 2009 but has been always subject to continued ratification for extension by the council. I think that this press release is just to clear up some confusion!
So the questions are for RW... it might be he did want to access it for some strategic reason or other, that would be perfectly ok... but I have no idea... ask him... that is what I am saying!

Where does it say that in the statement?
As I underdtood the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday was the only ratification.
Is there a link to any Council Minutes to confirm these agreemants to both Clubs have been ratified by the Council at an earlier date?.
What have the Trust "utilised some of this funding source" on?

No and think this is why Wakefield have issued the press release! They were both given the money last year but it was always subject to continued ratification and if you look back through the old minutes, I am sure it will be there (but can't be bothered to trawl through them) and probably said (in light of the the meeting that has just happened) that the money is available to December 2010, end of the year, or whatever and has to be ratified again at this time.
I bet I can also guess when they want to ratify it again....

Why you asking me?
Have Cas formed an associated Trust yet?
If they have why haven't they used some of the money?
Is the Newmarket site going to get through the PI?
Is all TRB's hair going to fall out?
I don't know!
All future questions to be addressed to Sir Rodney and Richard Wright!

So you are saying that you know that Wakfield Council have given £2million (or part of) both to the Trust and Tigers last year

What have I just said... stopping asking me the questions!
I know that Wakefield Council have offered the opportunity for both clubs to access exactly the same amount of funding since 2009, subject to continued ratification, which happened again on Tuesday (probably to be reviewed again in July... don't know that bit, just a wild guess!!!) The legal situation means that in order to access the money an not be in breech of state aid regulations that both clubs need to form and take the money (or whatever they want to use now) into a Trust. Wakefield have a Trust (as is well know) but I have no idea whether Castleford do or do have one but I understand that either way they have not used any of this money... but they need a Trust to do it, if they are going to!

From what I can gather, Castleford do have a community trust similar to the Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust - see [url=http://www.castigers.com/page.php?id=733here[/url (if the link takes you directly to the page). However, this trust is does not appear to be an independent trust in the sense that the Wakefield Community Trust (as opposed to the Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust) is.
The question is, do Cas have a community trust similar to the Wakefield Community Trust, and if not, is the Cas community trust affiliated to the club allowed to accept this council land loan to raise money towards the cost of the stadium? If the trust cannot legally act in this way and the land loan is going directly to Cas, well.... there may be problems.

They have given the date when the funding will be reviewed again, it is either june or july next year and funding will only be available to both clubs as long as both clubs are still in SL. I dont know how to put the link on but it is on the official cas tigers web site.
