Looks like my computers been infected with spyware or some such garbage,it seems to be blocking everything i do,can't find my AVG anywhere,can't do a system restore,the thing won't allow me to download a new AVG,it's just trying to get me to buy their own protection,anyone any ideas how to get rid of the thing?

mmmm. sounds a bit like conficker. it blocks/deletes programs especially anti-virus. there are some programs you can download to specifically remove this (try searching google).Can you open the task manager? (one symptom) I had something very similar but it never really went away. in the end I took all my files off and reformatted the hard drive then re-installed every thing. the document files were ok it was just older programs & .exe and antivirus it attacked.

try running a trend micro scan it is a program on the t'internet that might be able to help you, also AVG is abit rubbish now it used to be quite good for free anti virus software but Avast is the best you can get a the moment!

Tried Trend but it just blocks it,also tried to download Avast but that gets blocked too,it looks a clever one this one!!

You will need to get the PC re-formated if possible.

If you can get some kind of spyware \ anti virus software on there, then in theory you could get rid of whatever it is. However it won't be the same, they leave behind alsorts of c**p so it's best to delete everything and start again.

what sort of pc/laptop do u have? this happened to me a few months back and i moved everything to my d drive and reformatted my laptop (most new laptops have a special partition drive that can put your laptop back to how it was coming off the shop shelf)

It's about 6 yrs old Dell,not sure if it'll have such modern functions!!

just had a problem with mine where something got infected with spyware/malware on the ultra deffragger and it kept asking me to buy it to solve the problem i suspected it was this as it wanted my card details and pc kept switching itself off after so long when i ignored it kept saying no hard drive or ram etc

anyway i downloaded a programme called spybot scanned the pc it found 2 lots of problems clicked fix it and my pc has been fine since , im no wizz but it worked for me so dont know if it will help but you could give it a go

spybot is very good however i think u might have a virus not spyware or malware but its worth a try if you can download it

I had the same problem and could not find an answer anywhere,
Then someone suggested a small piece of software called

MALWAREBYTES

If you can get hold of that and put it on a dongle then start your PC in SAFE MODE
Once done run the MALWAREBYTES from the dongle and that should erase den the most vicious of viruses or worms.

By the way, the dig shat that gets a kick from creating and releasing these worms should be crushed in a bin wagon and their remains fed to pigs!

Also if you have more than one user account on the machine you should be able to log onto the Admin account without the Virus affecting you.

Once you have done this you should be able to delete the account where the virus seems to be located.

What ive found with the "Security Tool" virus, it is more user based rather than system based. You should be able to get a microsoft application called procexp.exe, this is a more indepth version of task manager and you could delete the virus from thre.

Thanks for the info Snowie/Tigersteve but no good yet,it won't let me download a thing so can't do a scan or download anything to rid me of it.Gonna try the Clan's idea next then unfortunately it's gonna be a cease of re-formatting my HD.The crafty gets are even stopping me copying my files to my external HD!!!

Don't think it's music files,can't even remember what I was lookin at!
That might be it,got a vinyl stuck in my hard drive!!!!
