I am sure that most of you are now aware that a specific planning committee meeting is to be convened on the 22nd October 2010 to decide on the outline planning application for the proposed Newmarket development.

As such, the formal consultation period is now over and the planning officers will be putting together their 'Report to the Planning & Highways Committee' for consideration at the meeting. This document will go public probably around 7 days before the meeting is due to take place and I would be very surprised if it did not recommend that the members of the committee (possibly subject to some conditions) be minded to 'Approve' the outline planning permission.

However, the paid professional planning officers do not have the final decision, the members of the planning & highways committee do and of course it is made up of our local councillors, who are politicians.

As a Wakefield resident your three Ward councillors are your representatives on Wakefield Council and, as such, are your link to the democratic process of local government.

So here is how you can now help and do your bit!

E-mail YOUR three Ward Councillors NOW and tell them why you think it is important that planning permission is granted on the 22nd October for the new community stadium & development.

The time for all the formal planning stuff is now over, so you don't have to write in a formal structured way or give reasons why you support the development in relation to planning law and guidelines etc, etc. What I would recommend you do is just e-mail and tell them why it is important to YOU that the ground gets the go-ahead, what Wakefield Trinity Wildcats mean to you, how they form part of your life, the life of the city of Wakefield, what it would mean to you to go and watch them at a new modern home, what the community sport facilities will bring to the city, what it will mean to your kids, grand kids and even great grand kids... how do Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and the game of Rugby League make you feel? This is an opportunity to simply convey your emotions and tell your story, so that your voice is heard and your councillors get to know first hand why YOU think this is important!

Here you will find a list of villages/areas covered by each Ward. Simply find your area in the list and identify which council ward you live in. Simply click on the WARD NAME and you will be shown your three Ward Councillors. If you then click on VIEW DETAILS you will find their contact e-mail address.

Can I just give you a word of advice, just write only to your three Ward Councillors. Please don't be tempted to write to them all or also/just the members of the planning committee or even your MP! They will simply pass your e-mail on to you Ward Councillors anyway and it sort of defeats the object, just focus on your Ward representatives.

Finally, don't be afraid to ask them to support the development and lobby their colleagues, both on and off the planning committee to do the same.

This is a really positive way you and everyone you know can now help, get e-mailing, get your family e-mailing and your friends e-mailing and let the council know how YOU feel!

IA is right, we all need to let the people who represent us know how much this development means to us. I realise moral isn't the greatest at the moment and I also realise that many of you have written letters of support before, but this is the last push. Every little helps and you could be a part of helping Wakefield get the sports facilities it deserves.

Please, please, please, follow the advice of IA.

Thanks for the updates guys. I'm sure a lot like me are not up to date enough to know when to do this kind of activity so it is great that you can set us to task at the right time.
It's now important that we all do our bit.
We all know we all feel the same way about this (even though we all argue about it) and want this stadium and WTW to move forward.

For those outside the WMDC boundary, I would suggest that you send something in, along the same lines as IA has described, to one or more of the councillors on the planning committee itself.

But for those in the district, please target your own councillors first and foremost!

Job done. It even made me feel more optimistic when wrote down the reasons it should be passed. There isn't a reason to turn it down that I can see.

Done and dusted. Realised that I knew a few of the councillors, so sent an email to them also.

I've got the message out to members of Wakefield Trinity DSA, as well so we should have a good showing.

Just tell us what else we need to do TRB, and I/we will be there mate.

Mines gone,even got a reply and the kind man forwarded mine to Lisa Dodd, Wakefield Council's service director for sport and culture.

The Conservative Group full support the development of the Wakefield Wildcats stadium in Stanley. We have also declared our support in the Wakefield Express.

I have no further information at this time and I am not aware of it being presented before planning. When I am advised of any further information I will pass it on to you.

I have had corrispondance with Mark Crowther who is the leader of the Conservatives on Wakefield Council. He confirmed to me that the Conservatives on the council were in full support of the Newmarket development.

As my councillor forwarded my mail to Lisa Dodd would it be an idea to include her in the mails?

How come there are two Councillors for Fryston?

Because each council ward has 3 councillors. This is because it is a part time posistion so it allows the workload to be spread across the 3 to equal 1 full time posistion.

And none of them are in my ward!

Not sure if I'm Newton Hill east or west, I'm off Leeds road to the right hand side, as you leave Wakefield. Think it's probably west, shall I just email both wards???
