Heard today that there is about 8/9 people in to get the club and one of them is Dave Whealen that was wigan's old chairman who as sold jjb so must have money to spend any body else heard owt . dont shoot me down just telling what i have heard .

Would be good if true because he does have money but he doesn't just throw it around stupidly which i think is good so i hope this is true.

He doesnt have any involvement with Wigan RLFC IIRC.

He did sell JJB - DW Sports/Gyms are a separate business.

Not heard this but why would DW be interested in Wakefield when his passion is Wigan Athletic - he's enough on his hands keeping them in the Premier League. He is a football man - I think he played for Blackburn Rovers - and cannot see how or why he would become interested in Rugby League again.

I know mate that's what I mean, why jack that in then take over us. One massive money making club and one that's not, wouldn't make sense

I don't want us to get a sugar daddy like Ken Davey, i would much rather we got somebody who wants the best for the club and is willing to put money in but not waste it. Iwould be happy if the new backer puts enogh money in which will allow us to keep our best players so we don't have to sell them to raise money to keep the club in business or pay off our tax bills.

I don't think we can be choosy.

It's a simple rule:

Money = Good
No money = bad

Why the heck would you not want a wealthy backer? A backer who has run a club successfully before, kept the finances in order and obviosuly loves his sport?

Does he have any connections with York Court Properties?

If any of this 'new backer' news is true then I'm as happy as 'Larry!'

I do want a wealthy backer but what i am sying is that i dont just want whoever it is to put millions in meaning that we loose the soul of the club.

I want us to use whatever money we get wisely invest it in the future of the club and not just wasing it on ageing aussies and past superstars.

I'm sure we'll be like pocket change to Dave Whelan. So it's probable he consider's us a hobbie. We've sold BV, with the funds going towards NM. I'm not entirely sure we'd be worth much, and with NM on the horizon now is a good time to get on board!

Watched a documentary on him a few years back, if any of teds offspring are still encumbant and he gets in, I'll give em a month!!!

I don't care who puts money into the club on the proviso that :-

1) They really do have the money (this time) &
2) They have a genuine desire to take the club forward

Only rumoured backer I've heard about is Clark's Brewery.

No because at the moment we sell or fail to retain our best youngsters.
