| One has funding and the full backing of the council. The other has the same moral backing of the council and huge funding gaps. And on the basis land was only guaranteed today I could rationally speculate the Cas project is by no means as advanced as some think/hope.
TBH I hope Cas can move forward with the funding because I would like to see this race really begin when we both have trucks on the ground.
However if you look at the life span of both bids not a sole could deny that only 1 bid has any real pace or tbf "drive" about it, as frankly the other has been plodding along for the best part of a decade and has only today sorted something which should have been in place WAY before you applied for planning permission in 2007!
If Cas don't pick up the pace I can easily see their application expiring in November. IMO it's time for RW to pass the "funding dilemma" over to their supporters club and fans, be honest, tell them the gap and let them attempt to raise some money. I don't know how RW can talk smack about Wakefield with the poor record of development on this front. Let people who care have a go baldy!!
Anyways Cas rant over. Get your house in order, Rodney's on his way to the start line... You limber Richard?

| I want both, but I think the cash situation and the compulsory purchase needed for Cas is a major spanner in the works.
In all honesty, if we don't need to use the 2m I'd like to see it go to Cas, with interest payments to WMDC, PROVIDING that there is a GENUINE (and not lip-service) element of community use, e.g. to improve training for local RL amateurs and with sports educational facilities for local schools colleges. It's about time WMDC stopped trying to be as good as other councils, and tried to be better.

How would you work out the interest payments on something that costs nowt? It's a loan of land against which to borrow. Cost to the council = zip. Cost to the borrower = the interest on the loan they get against the security of the land.
I hope both get a new ground too, 'cos I hate the thought of Cas sharing with us as much as I hate the thought of us sharing with them.

not 100% true but not far off the mark, one other problem is borrowing against land as a security in the current climate, see ted vs sainsburys etc.

| You really do enjoy over-exaggerating a lot of stuff don't you to try and make Wakefield seem better in some way? Let me clarify for you
Quote ="Sandal Wild Cat"One has funding and the full backing of the council. The other has the same moral backing of the council and huge funding gaps. And on the basis land was only guaranteed today I could rationally speculate the Cas project is by no means as advanced as some think/hope.'"
As already alluded to nowhere does it say "full backing", nor does it indicate any form of backing that you seem to be reading into. All it potentially means is that you've said you want to remain at Newmarket and WMDC have agreed but at your own risk. They'll continue to do things by the book.
As for "moral backing", WMDC is firmly supportive of Castleford's stadium and will be supportive of both clubs achieving their aims. As for "huge" funding gaps, your evidence for this is? Funding gap, maybe...huge, dream on, son.
As for the last bit, I shall endeavour to clarify the situation better for you. Prior to this the land was always earmarked as the site for the stadium and was designated in the Outline PP. However, to cover Waystone's back they'll have left the land open in case the stadium fell through and they could build something else on it. However, by signing an agreement it now means - from my own perspective although if I'm wrong, I'm wrong - the land is to be used for the stadium, nothing else, therefore meaning that both they and the club believe the stadium is deliverable. Should it have been done sooner...possibly? However, Waystone were merely covering their respective backs.
Quote TBH I hope Cas can move forward with the funding because I would like to see this race really begin when we both have trucks on the ground.'"
When being the keyword in that sentence. Who knows, one may well be completed before the other. If you're wanting a race, one would suggest you're a tad obsessed. I certainly hope both do get built but don't see it as a 'race'.
Quote However if you look at the life span of both bids not a sole could deny that only 1 bid has any real pace or tbf "drive" about it, as frankly the other has been plodding along for the best part of a decade and has only today sorted something which should have been in place WAY before you applied for planning permission in 2007!'"
Best part of a decade? The stadium was first planned with Waystone back in 2005 with planning ratified in 2007. That's five years, not a decade.
However, to suggest it is plodding along is laughable. If ours is plodding, what about Salford? Ours will be moving in a couple of weeks when the designs are shown and Full PP submitted. Will you still deliberately be negative then or is this some sense of hyping up your own chances?
Quote If Cas don't pick up the pace I can easily see their application expiring in November. I can't see it expiring. As for the funding, we don't know how significant the gap is, however, the fans will no doubt meet with the club in the near future and suggest ways of raising additional capital to benefit the stadium fund or the club.

Far from it! You shouldn't take it personally For what it's worth, I used to enjoy playing at Wheldon Road and I truly beleive that we could have full 'derby' houses at both our brand spanking new stadiums. I think we are both endeavoring to put the proverbial two fingers up to the RFL. What a great day that would be.

The problem is there was a deadline originally set for responses and half the ones that have come in were after the deadline had passed. As far as I am concerned any responses received after the original deadline should be invalid
