| following on from some comments on the brough cooke thred i was thinking about players i really dont want to ever see playing in red, white and blue, and almost came up with a team of them, as follows;
1 Mathers
2
3 M Gleeson
4 King
5
6 Cooke
7 Briers
8 Bailey
9 Riddell
10 Sculthorpe
11
12
13 Sinfield
All based on personal preference, dislike or petty hatred ill admit, but it does sort of prove I either dont watch wingers and second rowers, or generally dont dislike them, any thoughts on who i have missed or fill the gaps?

1 would take sinfield, king, and at a push briers. Nothing wrong with these three under the right coaching staff

| I'd stick Kevin Penney on one wing and I'm afraid I prefer both your centres to Keef Senior for whom I have held an irrational hatred for many a year. As with the other thread I would never want to see Hock, not because of the drugs but the leading elbow at BV in the cup last year.
With the exception of Sculthorpe I have to say I could live with the rest.

| Penny was shocking at the HJ Stadium last season, probably one of the worst performances i have seen from anyone ever.
I wouldn't like us to sign Stuart Reardon, Leon Pryce or even his brother Karl.
Others of note; Platt, Thorman, Long, Raynor, Cockayne

That Penny performance is still, I am sure, the stuff of nightmares for him and his family. The main reason for my dislike of Penny was his major lack of class in his previous 'explosion' season. I recall him being put away for a try and having a long run in (probably wearing some ridiculous dayglo boots). Here was a lad who had scored a few tries and had a bit said about him and he was strutting like a world beater. Far too cocky and disrespectful of fellow pros.
Boy did it make me laugh when he played sooooooooo badly against us last year!

Do you know.....after years of agreeing about Brent Todd, I think in my old age I'm thinking he was badly used, not a bad player.
He had some good games against a strong Aussie side when playing for New Zealand. The Kiwis always spoke highly of him (though his rep has gone a little bit with his "business activities"icon_wink.gif
I think he was just bigged up too much and then told to be a ball handling forward like Mark Graham when really he was a hard working hard yards guy, and that's all.
Under JK I think he'd be accepted by the fans just like Stosic or McGilivray were. They weren't flash but technically excellent in what they did.
Saying all that, and assuming there will be some disagreement, from the original thread point of view, would pay a lot of money for Sinfield, I'd be ok with King and Briers too.............not Mathers, not Long now, not the Pryce bros, Thorman is not even worthy of the question,

so you wouldn't have him here? Very poor judgement in my opinion.
Dislike the following:
Peney, Cockayne, Bailey, Hobson & would add Hock and Hudson et al as they cheapen the role of pro RL player with drug usage.

Nope. He's fine when he keeps his head down and just concentrates on tackling/driving the ball up. Unfortunately he's got the idea into his head that he's a creative player and puts in terrible kicks and passes, gets frustrated and starts giving away loads of penalties/possession. He'd be okay as a second row workhorse (if you could stop him trying to be creative) but there's plenty of cheaper players who can do that role just as well.

No No No. I don't agree with any of these. Would have Ablett like a shot and he isn't dirty at all in my opinion. I could list 10 straight off that are worse, some in our team!

Stats don't agree.
"Getting frustrated and giving penalties away", good job we don't have a play-maker who does that..... 1 less penalty in 4 less games than Broughy (who also has the added bonus of a red and yellow card to his name).
www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2009
I think he is massively under-rated and gets undue stick becuase of the Wigan/Farrel connection. I think this is a case of clouded judgement when looking at other team's players. Who would want Broughy and Newton in their side?
