I was just trying to think of the players that have been confirmed in and out of the first team squad for next season. I know there are lots of rumours but can anyone add to this?

A number of confirmations from different clubs today any reason?

not too bothered about grix and wilkes going and i could think there moves could come back to haunt them esp wilkes.snitch on the other hand will be a miss.

if a player finds a better deal than the one offerd from wakefield, then good luck to them, its only a short career in sport, but why are we not finding out the Ins and Outs on our club website but were finding out off other clubs websites, i.e castleford.

Weird isnt it. I wonder if selling clubs let the buying ones make the announcement for PR.

My biggest concern is the amount of British players were letting/let go.
Jay Pitts, Steve Snitch, Ricky Bibey, Ryan Atkins, Olli Wilkes and maybe Scott Grix


and weve only fetch in one britsh player, Terry Newton.

I wouldn't particularly expect a club to announce the loss of a player. Hardly a great news item: "We're proud to announce that Steve Snitch will not be playing for Wakefield next year".

But m sure the Wakefield supportees would have rather read it on our website first rather than the Castleford website??

Add to that the seven players promoted from the academy though.

it's the responsability of the club making the signing to make the announcement.

Not at all, but you bring them through slowly and let them benefit from the experience and leadership of older heads such as JD, Glenn Morrison, Newton etc. With the clubs set-up as it is it will be much easier to bring these players through playing with the calibre of players in the squad, Brough, Tronc, Millard etc. Rather than a few years ago when we were the whipping boys and they would be lambs to the slaughter.

The INs outweigh the OUTs in terms of numbers, however we will have 10 players in the squad next year who I would not be happy with us being reliant upon them for more than the odd game. ie the above named academy 7 plus George (if indeed we re-sign him), Cain S and Murphy. It is good to see them 'coming through' but I just feel that they are not ready for a full assualt on 1st team rugby. I feel that we need to bolster the squad with players that are ready for the 1st team, it is OK having better quality players but I feel it is a risky strategy if we don't have the size of squad when injuries hit ala Hull KR away early this season (when we had a bigger 1st team squad).
