We have a team full of aussies that in the majority couldnt get alot of games in the NRL, and then we have the other side which are made up of players who used to play in the NRL (why where they there?), we do however have a few players that dont come into either category.

So i came across this comment and it immediately struck me and made me realise that is the performances where getting all that we can hope for. and if so why? Is the club bringing the wrong players in, and if other teams can generate a squad of "better players" on a similar budget and have been over the last few years been getting better results then what have we got to change. Everyone including myself have stuck up for JK because of the tremendous work he had done, and keep saying he gets 100% out of the players look how they've improved for example, moore, bibey, grix etc but the quote was


getting the best out of average players just means your getting average....

Does this mean we have to adjust our expectations ?

Only if you've allowed yourself to get carried away during the periods when the team were winning games without playing particularly well.

Look at the SL table this season. There are a plethora of clubs between 12 – 18 points. Everyone is beating everyone. Trinity snatched tight games against Hull and Bradford, now they on the reversed side. That’s what you get with a close competition.

I know the form is not what we as supporters want from our team but this is the first trough of the season. I’ve always treated the good form Trinity were in as a period where the club was punching above it’s weight. Unfortunately this can not last all season.

Have we got a team full of average players if so can we expect an average posistion how many other teams have average sides.

If the maximum amount which we can get out of these players is an average performance then over the course of a season where will we lie.

We have a team full of decent players who can match anyone on their day but unfortunately for us are unable to maintain those standards all season. It will always be until the club gain some sort of multimillionaire backing or see a sudden surge in average crowd figures which means the club will be able to hold on to the better juniors in the academy whilst also attracting high profile(better quality?) imports.

We do have some quality players in the side as well as average ones, but the again I don’t expect a team full of quality. On recent form though we are a lot better than what they are showing.

that's a fair point Adam , TBH I'm sick to the back teeth of the "Wakefield till I die" brigade week in week out finding fault within the club.

Same here, although we have a young side that has a lot of potential we prob wont be able to keep hold of them all for long enough to get the best out of them.

Although there are many faults in the club there are many positives too.

we are planning a mass end of season clear-out of our top earners as the drop in attendances has us fighting for our existence

any truth to this?

But is that the best they can get ? Was that series of performances our sides 100% (best) ignore the injurys because it has been shown for some stupid reason we play better with loads of them.

If this is the best we can get then are our current performances what we should be expecting.

If our early season form isnt the best then whats the reason

I have already posted on another thread,but im in a weird way looking forward to the end of the season.

This season we went very much for stability around player recruitment,was this through choice,i dont think so,it was necessity,because of the current high earners under contract.
We have too many of our higher wage earners that quite simply havent delivered value for money.Thankfully some of these will be out of contract at the end of this season.Latu,Rooney,Martin,Drew,we also have Petersen,who in my book is robbing money(i appreciate he has been injured),but 6/7 appearances since arriving,yes its bad luck,but even when hes on the pitch i have seen nothing that would make me want to pay the guy3 times as much as Arron Murphy.The warning signs should have been there with Petersen when he turned us down in the first place - hes on a paid holiday.

When we have had players that have given value for money,as soon as contract is time re negotiate,we try and nick them.
Peter Fox and Jason Golden as examples -- did we really do everything we could to keep them.

Sorry to say,but come end of this season we need a good clear out.

Out:Rooney,Drew,Martin,Latu/Obst,Henderson and Petersen(if someone will take him).

Quite ironic that only one of the players i want out is British.

We showed some good form at start of the season and I believe we can better that by some way!

We just can't seem to get a settled side due to injuries.

There is a fine balance to be achieved through the signing of new players and the retention of others. Some average players may actually deliver better value for us than some of our 'stars', and with form like we have it is difficult to know exactly what the right track to take is.

There is no truth to my knowledge that we are being forced to sell because of any downturn. Likewise though, the pot is not over-ful and we must get good value from what we spend!

The players you mentioned are the same ones I would be happy to see the back off at the end of the season.

Not sure what you say is entirely true though, it does vary across the personel roster!

Unfortunately though Adam -- it wouldnt surprise me in the least to see a batch of contract extensions announced and some of these players getting them.
They get towards the end of contract and chuck a few performances together and hey presto we chuck another 2/3 years at them,then they go back to being poor.

Agreed, I would we can see through that this year. Let's hope Kear and the board think enough is enough and get some players in who will be worth the money.

It is the high earners that arent giving value for money on the whole.The only one that isnt a high is Henderson and i just dont see anything from him that a British NL1 player could do.

The average players/average earners on the whole im pretty pleased with - Wilkes,Bibey,Grix,Snitch,Ferguson,Pitts.

I also dont believe we are being forced to sell - but i will be massively dissapointed if some of the current batch of OOC players are offered new deals.They quite simply dont merit them,well not on the current terms theyre on.
