| Shamelessly stole from the Cas forum but a good topic i thought.
So if you could have just one player from ANY era back who would it be? The only rule is that you HAVE to have seen him play.
Ray Price for me, never seen a player put the effort in quite like he did.

Between Ray Price and Henry Paul for me. Price was a machine and never knew when we were beaten - epitomises the true spirit every player and every team should have. Henry Paul was simply world class and could win a game on his own which when he did at Wigan unfortunately cost us his services! How ironic Wigan tapping up players Does it still go on???

| ray price always for me
he came with a point to prove and did it both on and off the field, always remember some pundit saying we went for a "battered old lock with a beard", and the first game he played he had the old style boots on!!
his qf performance against wigan when he played on with broken fingers said it all.
that and clattering ellerery hanley every single time he got the ball that season cos he was gb loose forward and best in world at the time!
total class

| Wally Lewis for me. Only played 10 games for us I think but what a player. Probably the best player I have seen play although Neil Fox will take some beating.

| Clearly Lewis would be the man, but excluding him Fritz would be the perfect player Trinity would need going into 09.

I thought about him but could you imagine a half back pairing of Brough and Henry Paul. Price would also be the ideal man for us this year, everyone has written us off and that would p15s him off he'd batter everything that moved in to the ground and run his blood to water for the cause. Still undecided between the two! Rich Slater is also worth a mention Prices prodigal son not quite as good as Price but worked just as hard and tackled everything. I've played with Rich and his commitment to the cause is unreal! A true pro.

I considered Slater when thinking about this question. Not sure he would be the ONE player I would bring back but I think at the time he was awesome at what he did. I remember him several times making all 6 tackles in one set.
I think I'd have to choose Henry Paul if I could only choose one.
Honourable mentions also for Billy Conway and Nigel Bell.

| I know I have already chosen (Wally Lewis) earlier, but given our current problems in the back row, I had hoped someone might pick Bill Ashurst, who was the equal of Solo in ball-handling but was quicker, sharper and stronger (before his knees went )

| I'm a little biased here but I would go for Wally Lewis.
He was a footballing freak!
Think Trent Barrett X 20
Lockyer X 5
A Johns X 10
The bloke could fight, kick, pass, step, run, hit, cover, take bombs, lead etc.. etc...
He stood up when it got tough and stepped up when it got tight. I've never seen anyone like him before or since.
