Not sure that stacks up, for a start no one will be promoted this season.
The last RFL meeting got a "walkout" so i doubt its cast in stone yet and the nearer it gets to the first game of this season the more doubt there must be.
Who knows.

| I was under the impression there was a meeting of SL clubs sometime in January.
It’s a shame Red Hall hasn’t got a viewing area, it’s going to be a classic .

| There will be promotion and relegation in the 2015 season that has been confirmed but how and how many have not. The worst that will happen next year (depending how you look at it) is that S|L club(s) will be relegated at end of 2014 season.

You may be right about promotion & relegation in the 2015 season, however, what if the SL CEO’s get round the table in January & ratify that, what about the 2014 season?
What if they agree there will be no relegation in SL at the end of 2014 followed by a straight one up, one down in 2015, to pacify the Championship clubs. What if they also agree that the SL team relegated in 2015 receives a parachute payment & overseas exemptions for one season?
There would be no level playing field & the said relegated team would probably come straight back up.
Due to licensing the SL has become a member’s only club & they won’t want Status Quo changing by much I fear.

| I wouldn't be suprised if that was one of the sticking points in London's recent negotiations with the RFL and Barnets owner.
Today they have no team and have a game in 4 weeks!! Who is going to invest in a club that is guaranteed to go down!
Can I put one of these in too

The quote that went along with the talk about reintroducing promotion and relegation, was that there wouldn't be any protected teams.
Of course, the cynical ones amongst us "know" that this wont be the case.

| What is certain is that P&R should it happen will throw up two instant 4 pointer (remember them).
I see Salford and Bradford as relegation contenders along with ourselves and a few others.
So by the third game of the season should we have lost both games panic will already have set in - BY GAME THREE!!!
How can this be conducive to good rugby and a healthy game and club. It's utter madness and takes all the joy out of the season right at the start, I think people are forgetting just how awful a relegation threatened season can be.
People go on about dead rubber games in the present set up but they are nearly all dead rubbers if you get off to a bad start in a P&R season other than the last game when the great Wakefield public turns out in numbers in the hope of seeing a car crash.
This is P&R in all it's glory.

Completely agree. The whole structure screams short termism. Clubs can not plan, players will be unsettled and distracted, sponsors will shy away from long term commitment and the crowds won't necessarily come flooding back.
Even taking into account the generous attendance figures that have been disclosed over the past few seasons, Trinity's average has probably being higher in the last 6 years then it was between 1999 and 2007.
The whole restructure is to give Knock off Nigel a further five years or so of 'earning' his £200k salary despite his incompetence.
Ideally the league should be increased and conferences introduced to accommodate any club who wants a shot at the elite level. I'm sure with French clubs, Heartland clubs and one or two expansion areas 20 teams could be found and 2 leagues of 10 who play at the same level can compete for the SL title for the top five of each conference and a SL shield for the bottom five.
It may mean a reduction of central funding for each club to £700k or so and short term may result in a decrease in playing standards, but in time it should help clubs and subsequently the playing pool grow stronger.

| Excellent points made Khlav, particularly the one about increasing the number of clubs rather than retracting.
Have never been able to see the point of reducing the numbers.
Any neutral observer would view that as a sport struggling and one that is not worth showing interest in.
Clubs need to think not just of themselves, but be prepared to play the longer game and of the sport as a whole.

It's not jealousy, just annoyance generated by the odd few of your supporters who seem to have very quickly forgotten where you've come from.
My opinion is that you've signed a lot of players who might or might not work.
Personally I don't think Chase and Smith make a good pairing but they may prove me wrong.
Hock is just as likely to cause issues as he is to win you games going on past experience.
Morley, Puletua, Meli are all another year older and could survive another full season or could not - nobody knows just yet.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love someone with money to come into our club, but it's one of those where you need to guarantee they are in it for the long term otherwise you very quickly put yourselves in a completely unsustainable position.

I fear you're right, everything about the Dr screams fragile ego to me. He's a wealthy man in RL terms but he isn't so rich as his bank account or boredom threshold won't snap before Mr Noble has the time to build a team. His antics last year suggested a very impatient attitude. When you compare his high profile which he has helped create to that of the owners of Warrington who are the club most similar to to Salford when they moved there is a marked difference in attitude. Warrington and indeed Wigan, Leeds and Saints have owners who remain relatively behind the scenes and shun the limelight - they are builders and planners where as the Dr just seems like a flash harry enjoying his notoriety of which he will eventually get bored. I real really hope not and I mean that but having seen many of these club saviours come and go both at Trinity and other clubs I won't hold my breath.
None of us on here not even a cynic like myself thought Glover would be quite as useless as he was - he wasn't as rich as the Dr but he did put on a similar show - Salford fans by all means should back him and support the club and enjoy what seems to be on offer, but as a word of advise from one who know - watch your back and always read the small print

Really?
What difference does that make, these people never really gamble with there own cash. AG, OK or the Dr, they risk losing some cash but nowhere near as much as they like to make out.

I don't know your own definition of wealthy but, the article below suggests a personal worth of £900 million
Which marks him down as staggeringly rich:
Marwan Koukash
Cup hope: Mount Athos
Wealth: $900 million
No one could begrudge Koukash raising the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday with last year's fifth placegetter Mount Athos.
Koukash fled Palestine with his family when he was nine and spent three years in a refugee camp in Jordan before moving to England.
He gained an engineering degree in Liverpool, became a professor and started a corporate training and property business that has earned him his fortune, which The Times rich list last year valued at $900 million.
Six years ago he had never set foot on a racetrack. Today he owns more than 100 horses and one in particular, Mount Athos, could give the Melbourne Cup its first refugee winner.
Koukash's love of sport has expanded. This year he bought the Salford City Reds rugby league club and he is looking to purchase an English football club, revealing recently he was in talks with Oldham Athletic.
This was taken from an article about horse racings most wealthy owners and he was 5th or 6th on the list
Of course he could pull the plug if things don't pan out in the way that he wants but, this guy is in a different league to A.G. or Ok,
