Saw a bit in the League Express on Cas giving discounts and holding an event in Barnsley in a couple of weeks.
Have they stolen a march on us here?

Yes - I've been saying for some time that we should market the Barnsley area.

Cas is a damn sight further from Barnsley that we are, can't see it as having massive appeal. Agree that we should do some marketing there, but I suppose it comes down to the circular problem of a limited budget and having to focus on our catchment area.

I've said in the past that the club should offer Barnsley season ticket holders a discount on match tickets and perhaps play a one on the road match at Oakwell.

I am lead to believe we do go into the schools in Barnsley area we also visit schools in the Dewsbury area. I am also told our school programme is one of the best.

The difference is that Cas shout about everything they do but our club seem to ignore all positive publicity.

wakey as i see it if they are doing anything like then they need to publicise it. you need new blood and new support and if you cannot generate the necessary marketing to get PARENTS to take their kids to a match then whats the point in going into schools!

if it is a lack of budget then it's narrow minded management - fans are the lifeblood of the club and at the minute you need lots more new support (not saying we dont s that is evedent from our fan recruitment drive).

We live in Wakefield but my kids go to a school in Royston. We have got the Cas offers and Mr Perfect has been in to the see the kids but my daughter refused to speak to him. 5 years at a Barnsley school which is on the boarder with Wakefield and we have had nothing about the Wildcats. A bit sad really when our owners Grandkids are at the same School.

Get someone from the school to give Davide a ring at the club I'm sure they will be more than happy to come in.

I know I could ring the club but a one off does not get them very far. They would need a policy to go to all schools in Barnsley or at least the ones on the Wakefield side if they thought it was cost effective. I am not having a go at the club. It is a business decision to be made by them. They only have so much money to spend and so much time. Both my kids are in the Junior Wildcats which is great and they are looking forward to Diversity performing at Belle Vue. If they have not go the money to target Barnsley that's OK by me but I hope they do in the future.

To be honest with you I would imagine they mainly concentrate on schools in Wakey but if you do ring them or someone from the school does then get other schools involved or pass on numbers to those that come and spread the word. It's easy to say the club should be doing this but for whatever reason they are not so give them a nudge in the right direction!

The majority of folk in Barnsley are more football mad than the wiganers are about RL...it might not pay dividends to flood the barnsley area with rugby league adverts.

Can't hurt though, particularly during the football off season (if there is such a thing!). Even if only 1000 take up any offers its worth it.

for the huddersfield game t'other week, the giants ran a "friends of the emergency services'' deal...whereby if you work for the emg services in any capacity and bought your ticket prior to the game, upon production of you ID card, they gave 50% off the ticket price....

You may be right, I'm just concerned that Cas seem to have beaten us to it (or at least are shouting about it) and we're a lot closer. We marketing in Selby next then?
