Not really designed to annoy Cas fans but hopefully might annoy Smokey Troll .
These are two players I have touted as having similar ability levels. Well clearly they differ but there is only one way to find out...FIGHT! Just kidding, I was told by a certain Cas fan that Fergy didn't have young Joes X Factor. Stats don't seem to indicate this though they do highlight two players who are both similar and different.
Ferguson clearly has the power with a massive superiority in meters made and tackle bust. He is also clearly a better defender. Joe has clear edge on offloads and appears to have something of a kicking game and with two try assists appears more creative. Other stats are pretty similar.
All I can say is there is no evidence of Joe's X factor over Dale or if there is they both have it

| No contest for me - Fergy would walk into my side any day before Westerman.
Fergy is one of our stand out players this season to date and is turning into one hell of a player. He was simply outstanding at Hull KR.

| dear wigan warrington and leeds
westerman is a far better player, stats say nothing, he has the wow factor think of the tshirt sales, go get him now or he may be sold to another club.
fergi is hugely overrated by his clubs own blinkered fans who should no better as all they spend their time doing is bickering on forums. big risk in my opinion, far better to go for the safe westerman option.
thank you

Settle petal, notice the wink. Ferguson is a great prospect but, as pointed out to you in [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=396760&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0this thread you abandoned[/url, Westerman's roll of achievements reads:
england school boys captain, nl1 young player of the year, sl young player of the year, called up for the england sqaud, rated by an independant source as the 3rd best teenager in the world, nl1 grand final winners medal, 53 first team games (29 in sl), 24 tries (14 in sl) and 40 goals
This is why he is so highly rated and talked about. How does Ferguson's read?
At the end of the day, Ferguson is a great prospect and has started this season really well. Hopefully, as someone mentioned on this thread, they'll be playing together for England before too long. As you said, they are two different players, so why do you obsessively compare the two?

OK petal.
Ferguson has also played for England Academy, has never played in NL1 (what a blow), his ratio of SL games to tries stacks up perfectly with Westerman.
The number of games he has played are irrelevant as you can't play with no shoulder - had Westerman been injured all last season what would his figure be, that is a truly absurd comparison.
Ditto the Independent ratings, Westerman was playing NL1 at the time and thus got game time. Ferguson was playing SL and finding it somewhat difficult to dislodge more established first team SL players - you get my drift.
Westerman has simply had a head start and lucky him. I can confirm Kear rates him as highly as Westerman, can't imagine he rates him higher - but then why would he I don't
See there lays the difference, here at Wakey we are secure enough to realise that good things happen elsewhere and there may well be TWO equelly good players at both clubs. I know you lot will never admit that, too much face to be lost

In every ferguson - westerman post you create I always point out, as tigersteve did, that it's great that both clubs are producing talent. It is you who continually creates threads to try and quash the buzz around Westerman in comparison to Ferguson. It smacks awfully of jealousy, because there's no relative basis for comparing them. They are both young, but they are also two very different players, the difference being that one has been in the England squad and is the current SL Young Player of the Year and the other one isn't. That seems to be enough to rile you into creating threads continuously belittling Westerman, why do you care?

Perhaps not belittle, but why do you feel the need to continually make comparisons between the two when, by your own admission, they are totally different players?
