| Rumour has it his wife can't settle and wants to go home....
The family pressures may explain his on field performances as in recent weeks he's been poor
If he does depart then bringing a big, aggressive prop in is an absolute must

| Started well with some big defence and solid play in first few games.
Sad to see but his form has taken a dip since those first few weeks.
Along with pj our worst 2 forwards so far this year. I'm more concerned about PJ as he has been nowhere near last years standards he set.

I'd heard that southerns wife is struggling because of the poor weather surely she knew this when they agreed the contract. Steve should man up and leave the issues with wifey at home and play for the team paying his wages and putting food on his table. If aussies cant handle the weather etc stay in aus simple!

Internal flights only, we could take him to Leeds/Bradford and get you know who on the way!

| If he can regroup himself and bring back the solid, hard tackling southern we saw early season then great.
I think we should give him time, he is lacking form and I'm sure he realises this.

| Unfair to single out Southern, he's not the only one under performing. I thought right from the beginning that giving him the captains arm band based on assumptions was a rather rash decision. He looks unfit to me, but doesn't deserved to be singled out

| SS has just had a baby who has not been on top form, he and his wife have no family for support, they are in a brand new environment and he is playing out if position. A little more slack should be given in my opinion. Play him at 2nd row and let's see what he can do.

| It's not just his form that is poor, I haven't really seen a captains role either on the pitch or under the sticks when we've conceded. I wanna see fight and pumping up the other guys, not been there for me the last few games, looked useful early days but not recently for me, there is no ' team' ethos at the moment, the body language and team mentality of the first half a dozen games seems to have gone.

| I think they're other players in the team who need singling out more than Southern. Vince Mellars is atrocious, a terrible waste of a centre berth. Perhaps he can ask Paul Sykes how to pass and how to draw a man in before doing so.

| I thought he made alot of tackles last night. Maybe too much pressure being captain and not on field long enough would give captain to Aiton

| Whatever is going on in that household - we should not be suffering for it - the club comes first otherwise there would be no club for them to be employed by!
If he's 'going through a rough patch' then taking the captaincy from him is not knocking him, it's supporting him by relieving him of some responsibility. It will also help his team-mates as they can focus and get behind their leader.
Aiton is PNG captain - give him the job - even if it is only temporary until the Southern family get sorted, one way or another.
Failing that, give the job to Raleigh!

He's moved there - that's a different matter to buying.

| Aiton is deffo a better candidate for captain. PNG captain, more go forward, fitter/on the field longer - makes more sense

now I'm a fan of his but not sure he's much of a talker, more of a doer. Aiton for me as he was already PNG captain and does long minutes. For me we need 2 half backs who can create, 2 centres and a prop. Kyle wood could be one of those half backs given the chance and I'd day jarred sammut in place of smith at the end of the year.

| He has been the most dissappointing signing for me, i expected more from him. He looks unfit, offers nothing going forward and puts the ball down way too often. I'd be prepared to give him time to come good in his true position of 2nd row but it would be no great loss if he went based on what we have seen so far.

| Been reading the fall out from
Cas and agree with most of what has posted. However what about matty wildie in the halves with wood and give the captancy to him? Local
Lad who loves the team and is on the field for the full 80 and lets face it he would do no worse than tim smith or issac john not to mention at leased he would put the effort in!
