| Last week James Elston confirmed that we have a plan B and have a deal in place should we need to temporarily play elsewhere whilst the ground is built or planning details are overcome. He wouldn't say what it was but I can't imagine what else it could be other than Oakwell. He also said that SL rules dictate that such a deal be in place for 5 years (although you dont need to play there for 5 years, I guess it covers the length of a franchise)
Anyone know if Cas have a plan B anywhere??
I know we shouldn't be worrying about or concentrating on Cas but lets face it they are probably our main rivals for a franchise.

| Out of interest would supporters rather go to Oakwell or Elland Rd as a plan B option?
They're pretty much equidistant from each other with Elland Road easier to get to I would imagine.

Would prefer Barnsley myself, on the basis that it is a smaller gorund and as such may be easier to generate an atmosphere.

Also with the additional bonus of maybe picking up a few local fans.

Seem to remember Doncaster being mentioned as a stop gap.

Public transport wise, you'd have to swap bus companies to get to Elland Road - good for parking though. But, Leeds under Kuddly Uncle Ken don't need the money, nor a rugby team messing up the pitch when challenging for a place back in the Premier League.

| Oakwell over Elland Road for me EVERY TIME!
Shorpe has also been mentioned on Casforum- which is always a great read!
Scenario:
NM is in limbo- going to be developed but not in time for 2012, we have a lease (5 year) on Oakwell while we get NM developed.
RW know's all along he can't afford to build so essentially banked on NM failing/ being delayed to ensure his own club's SL status, ergo he applied and was granted PP without the required funds to build in order to have a superior application based his assumption of us still being at BV.
Question:
Who do the RFL take?
Club A.
No planning permission as yet due to technical issues with the sites development & impact. With a lease to "A grade" stadium (outside the city limits).
Or
Club B.
A club with planning permission but no cash to build. With no "plan B"
All of this is speculation and dooms day predictions until the 22nd.
As I've said all along RW is playing a "blinking game" with WTW, which if NM comes off he has big trouble to come!
- On a side note; could the "other site" mentioned at their BoD meeting on thurs be NM? Have they been told NM will be looked on favourably and been offered one last chance to join the party?

didnt you miss somethig off club A ? you know like being on the brink of closure twice in a season, chaiman with his own cash issues, players not getting paid on time, all the things superleague require in their clubs pmsl
Please provide a link to castlefords financial position that proves your point, or is it a forlorn hope of yours that it is true.
Whens the taxman due back ????????

You do talk some rubbish, cockle.
As for Plan B's, I am sure we have several available to us. However, I'm still of the opinion and belief that it won't be needed and until March comes and goes without a brick or JCB in sight, I'll maintain that.

| Just out of interest, and without wanting to sound negative, where will we stand if we don't get this new stadium if Belle Vue is already sold?

Of course plan A is what we all want but if the council are happy to see top flight sport completely eradicated from the city then I'm afraid to say they can all go eat and die and we go play in Barnsley.

Good to see local MPs showing passion and dedication to the cause. We need more people like this in rugby league to maintain the heritage.

I believe Mr Box has done his share for Cas in his time in local politics.
Care to argue otherwise?

I wouldn't know. You could argue he's done just as much for Wakefield but that's a different argument. Regardless, I'm sure the other Wakefield fans do not want a Cas/Wakey argument again and neither do I. This is about a Plan B for Wakefield and that is rumoured to be Barnsley.

| I dont see why Cas would need to look to play somewhere else as part of plans A B C or D in the short term.
Plan A is clearly to stay at Wheldon Rd in 2011 and move to the new stadium in GH at the start of 2012.
If that doesn't happen one of two things will occur;
1. We get a franchise regardless and continue in SL at Wheldon Rd until the new ground is eventually funded by the sale of Wheldon Rd with an agreement to play there until the new ground is built whether that be in 2011, 2012 or 2013.
2. We don't get a franchise and continue in the Championship at Wheldon Rd until the new ground is eventually funded by the sale of Wheldon Rd with an agreement to play there until the new ground is built whether that be in 2011, 2012 or 2013.
We own our ground until its sold to fund GH unlike Wakey who are homeless at the end of next year if NM isn't up in time.
I hope you get PP on Fri, it's a huge development that the area needs especially with the cuts in public services that will have a positive impact on the local job market. Any private enterprise should be given full backing IMO in the current climate even if it means we loose a few fields.
I honestly dont think the two clubs efforts to get new grounds will impact the other as directly as some seem to think. GL with NM and I hope we get GH as well.

Hopefully we won't need a plan B and newmarket gets the go ahead with no hold ups. If there are hold up then Oakwell as a tempory measure would be ideal, Elland Road is quicker to get to especially the north Wakefield fans but would be too big and expensive. Traditionally Trinity have always had support from Barnsley and we could tap into new support from there. Hopefully plan B will not be needed as Newmarket is too much of a good opportunity to miss.

| My last couple of posts were pessimistic however why is everyone banking on Cas and us being the only contenders for the chop ?? if the argument is purely on distance between our two teams what about the two Hull sides ?? much closer than that.
