Would it be easier if Dr Koukash just issued a statement saying that Salford want to sign any half-decent player, whether they're contracted or not?

That would save all the agents and half-d journalists a lot of time and effort, and the rest of SL could be clear about which scraps from the Dr's table they're left to work with.

It would be a shorter list to print a list of players that Salford aren't interested in.
Their adherence to the salary cap will sure be a test for the Dr.

Wouldn't take much notice of this. The electrician wants to sign about 20 players by my recogning. What he would like and what he ends up with wil be miles apart IMO.

Chase at 6, Smith at 7 with Sammut at 9 would be pretty devastating if they clicked. Not that I think it will happen.

Sammut would be a good bench player, impacting when he comes on with his pace and skills.

I'd be surprised if Wakefield allowed both Kirmond and Smith join Salford, regardless of the fee involved. It would be like organising your own funeral what with the league changes next season.

Regarding our salary cap, were by far operating at the lowest of any club in Super League and with the majority of this years squad also to be released we have plenty of room to accommodate a host of new signings.

Just like to point out that the Dr has only ever publicly announced his intention of trying to sign Tomkins. He's hinted at certain others before trying (Morley)

The rest of the rumours are just press filling inches. Yet opposition fans come out saying the Dr is doing this and that. We've been linked with every man and his dog but not by the Club or the Dr.

You make a very valid point. A cynic might also say that it is a good way of checking interest. Leak interest to the press and see which agent rings up to check whether it is true.
