| Trojan Horse: Wollo-Wollo-Wollo-Wayoo: imwakefieldtillidie: Trojan Horse: After only 1 game it’s way too early for me to decide if Atoni is one we should keep beyond this season.
A few more performances like vs saints and some consistency at SL level would go a long way to convincing me though.
I'm the same with Atoni. Unfortunately he was poor last time he was in SL, he needs to show he's moved on from that.
Give over. He started very tentatively but hit some good form or moved on as you say, once Fifita took him under his wing.
No, I won’t give over.
He was poor 2/3 of the season and improved the last 1/3 of the season. A season which we still finished rock bottom and got relegated.
I want to see some consistent good performances from Atoni before I make my mind up about him.
What exactly is wrong with that?
He has a lot to prove at SL level especially after our last time here in 2023.
I think the 'give over' was aimed at the bit before your post about, ' he was poor last time he was in SL'. As most agree once he got some backup in the middle he finished pretty strong in 2023. TBf To Atoni, like plenty of guys that arrive from down under, he started slowly and to add to that he was in a poor team, all over the place in structure, quality and confidence. When he got some extra help in the middle when Fifita arrived, we saw him get more & more confidence and he finished the last 10 games or so off well imo he showed he was a SL-quality player. I think he's improved since then, even taking into account the comp last year, under DP and the guys, he's got fitter, finds his front more, rather than milking every meter and cracks on and plays the ball quicker than when he first arrived. For me, it's just about injuries and keeping his form consistent, if he does that he's a quality Prop, who I haven't got many doubts about.

| Atoni has no more to prove than the other props who haven't plaid SL yet. I like him a lot.

| Christmas before last I sat with him at the Christmas lunch and he was saying that his wife didn't settle at first when they got here and later made some friends and she was happy. Might be Fafita's wife was part of this. Some players take sometimes a full season to settle and play their best rugby. McQueen at Hudds was terrible first season then was dream team year after.
A lot of overseas players families just don't settle and it must be hard if this happens for a player.
Also as prop Antoni's best years are ahead of him, so keep. To go for me it's Locky or Casius, but we need to give them both time to earn a contract. As quota's for me it's Locky to go as Powell like meters after contact on kick returns.

He had about four good games. And Fifita isn't here now so let's see how he does without him. I want him to succeed, but let's not pretend he was something he wasn't.

| Atoni had more than 4 good games last time we were in SL. Give the guy a break - I agree he has no more to prove than our other props.

| Wollo-Wollo-Wollo-Wayoo: I reckon Atoni will be snapped up by another SL club if we don't offer him a decent contract. That's if it hasn't happened already. first game back is against one of the best packs in S L and Atoni went well ,and fans are saying he as to prove himself He is a good forward in a very good pack and will do is job like every body else The pack of the last time we were in S L is way in the past And think it is about time fans left it to the coaches to sort things out I can see how far we have improved under the new set up and have been proven wrong big time .If we lose today hope fans do not start having a go at Powell .We have had 3 games against three of the top 6 teams in S L could have won 2 .As poor as we played against Saints there 24 points were down to our mistake and the bounce of the ball and 50/50 calls. Think there game against HKR proved we are not far behind them ,if you get a fair share of luck
