Quote ="Dunkirk Spirit"Here is a little thought which may be a concern. Initially, the revamped North Stand was to have a capacity of 3500, with a stadium capacity of around 7,500.
The North Stand will now have a much reduced capacity, therefore the stadium capacity will be nowhere near 7500. I’m not sure what the minimum capacity is for a Super League Stadium, but we may be pretty close to it.
New East Stand 2500, North Stand probably around 1500, West Terrace 1000?. Perhaps the club will retain the temporary seats to make it up to 5500. Shame really, I was in the ground when we played Wigan in a cup tie, 28,500, attendance that day.'"
As disappointing as it is that we are having to make this amendment (presumably due to rising costs) let's try and be realistic about the impact.
North Stand was proposed to have a capacity of 3500. How much of that was in the top section and how much in the bottom? I don't know but my guess (looking at the original proposed plan for the North Stand) would be say a 1/3 bottom, 2/3 top split. So let's say for arguments sake, 1,200 in bottom section, 2,300 in top section.
The bottom section capacity will not change.
The top section will be reduced from 25 terraced steps to 16, so by approximately 1/3. This would give us maybe 1,500 now in top section.
So overall capacity of North Stand goes from 3,500 to 2,700.
All guess work based on the drawings I know, but let's not assume the worst until we know.
If overall capacity goes from 7,500 to 6,700 then how many times a year do you think we'd sell out??? Not many
