Excellent sentiments Sue. I've still got the anti theft gunk in my nails from daubing the tops of the perimeter walls lol.
ONWARD AND UPWARDS. See you at the game later.
Its that sort of thing we could do with now if a couple of fans can start the ball rolling then Im sure some ideas can be thought of.I think the club has in the past missed one or two ideas that would bring a bit more money in.Take the match day dvd season has ended and we head towards xmas why not do an away games, home games or full season dvd set.Burn them to dvd and no need for a fancy plastic box to hold them all put them in plastic sleeves and in a printed red white and blue cardboard box with the club logo on top.Im sure that other ideas are burried among the brains of other fans.I remember when we made Wembley 79 and the club opened a shop at the bottom of kirkgate and then it closed soon after. Thanks to you Feline the idea of a club shop came about again and for that you are owed a big thank you from the club.
Excellent post and along the lines of what i wanted to say this A.M. What i will add if i may is my memories of the great years. Whenever we hit the low times i always cheer myself up by remembering the good years starting in the glory years of the sixties, going to belle view as a kid with my mates on a saturday afternoon with a kids rose coloured glasses on knowing our team were going to win no matter who the opersition were and what a feeling after the final whistle whilst making our way through the town centre everyone out shopping not asking who won but how many did we win by.
Catching the bus into Wakefield to watch the team parade the cup through the city to the town hall, it seem'd as if the whole of wakefield were there. These are the memories i cling on to and pass on to my grandson knowing hand on heart they will return sometime in the future and once again we will be able to gloat at all the teams who take great delight in seeing our lowly position.
So please dont be disheartened by our current predicament but use it as a rallying cry to get behined the team starting on Sunday lets have a full house and remember "what goes round comes round" and believe me the good times WILL return.
Your post does bring a point to mind for me Briggy that in reality we haven't been a big club since those days.
Late 60s we had a championship winning side, but from then till now, we have had some good players, and maybe even some great players, with some good wins, but we haven't been a big club.
Even when Dave Topliss and the Wembley team were playing, we were getting low 1000s in attendance. The city needs to support the team to make it great again.
We seem to have numbers interested now, just not the Cash flow. If we could just turn the investment part around, we could be great again I'm sure, but it's not looking like it's going to be any time soon.
Either way I'll be buying my ticket and supporting the team, but I do yearn for a day when the massive potential of Wakefield (City and Trinity) are realised.
