Quote ="kinleycat"I'd love to know how writer, Nick Woodward KNOWS this to be true:
""Only Crusaders’ withdrawal of their Super League license application saved the club from entering the Championships".
I am fairly fed up off this, the club should either ask for an apology or let the author name his source.
This kind of lazy journalism only harms our credibility, if we were a FTSE100 business, there would be solicitors all over this.
If we don't put an end to this rot, it is in danger of becoming fact by default.'"
This.
As I said last season, it's very easy just to ignore this stuff and claim that we like proving wrong those people who write us off etc, but I believe this kind of lazy, thoughtless journalism genuinely damages our credibility; it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that WTW are in the doldrums and as a result, the brand is damaged. When the brand is damaged, so is our player pulling power, our ability to attract new fans and most importantly, our commercial revenue streams.
I'm prepared to bet significant money that after all of the idle pundits have predicted us to finish bottom, the Sky commentary team will begin the season referring to us as "wooden spoon contenders," "favourites for the bottom berth" "propping up the table" and any number of supercilious cliches that denigrate our club and write off all of AG's hard work.
It makes my blood boil!
