I can't help thinking Kear is pretty handy with his preferred senior players but he seems to come across a bit disconnected

I disagree. If he was getting repeatedly played on the wing or at full back fair enough, but he isn't. He's playing in a role that gives him plenty of opportunity to show what ability he has. He has shown very little in my opinion. That doesn't mean he should be abused or not supported along with anyone else, however conversely it doesn't mean he shouldn't be subjected to analysis of his performances/ability either.
