I remember that well. A good day.
Also, regarding other posts above
Chris Mortimer was never going to be Steve Mortimer but was not a bad aquisition. If you talk to people who played with him at the time he was inspirational leader and tactically astute. He just wasn't an international playmaking halfback......but as I understand it, that is not what he was bought to do.
Also, Brent Todd I agree with, though again I think expectations were not set correctly for what he was good at......but Mark Graham was not a disappointment to me. He put his work in and was one of the best we have ever signed in my opinion (even though only for short stint). Ask Andy Kelly how many times he was put through a gap by him. Another inspirational leader at the time.
Saying that, unless we got them all together they are not the answer to our problem. We need money right now so the inspirational leader is someone like Maurice Lyndsey was to Wigan back in the day. Could forge a club rather than just a team.
As for players, I'd be happy with Belly and Billy back, with a loyal and focused Danny Brough to go with them..........throw in the March twins too.......and a younger JD. There'd be no lack of passion anyway. Throw a couple of tall fast outside backs who could catch Broughys high ball and we are sorted.
