| having rea most of the posts on this topic, i have noticed that the cas fans have been particularly vocal at pushing GH at us as the only option, yet no compromise from them - why - because they need us
i have also noticed a certain jitteriness about their posts since oakwell was mentioned as an alternative. does that scare them. yes i think it does
they cant do it without us,or if they can, good luck to them. let them get on with it and go away and debate on their own board how they are going to do it
i for one would certainly go for Barnsley rather than Gh and after the way WMDC (or is it CMDC) hav acted, i would rather take WTW out of the city.
they don't deserve the heritage the club has given them over the years
what was Wakefield known an identified with over the years, a battle in the war of the roses, a top flight rugby league team and a very successful rugby union team, a world record rugby league points scorer, a top hockey team, and have they capitalized on all of these? No, they havent and are letting them dwindle
now what are we famous for, a boozy drunken town, a town with no sporting facilities to speak of,
lets get out of this town before it becomes a ghost town. i personally will get out and take my council tax with me when the opportunity arises
sadly i can see the loss of some potentially fantastic facilities for rugby league and other sports, at newmarket, which would benefit the whole of the district and which would afford the whole area the opportunity to train and play and become a centre of excellence, and be lost because of parochial attides of people who cant see further than their own backyards, at the expense of the common good of all the district

As it stands they are not providing either. If we are relying on WMDC for anything then we are shafted as they are totally useless in every respect.

| Quote ="underground"In the hope of adding intelligently to the dabate... I did a bit of loose research (findings are rounded up or down as appropriate) on the distance from wakefield to a number of potential groundshare options for Trinity (I have take the centre of Wakefield as the start point for the research!)
It shows some interesting things:
To share with Bradford Bulls our fans would have to travel 14.5 miles to a home game
To share with Leeds Rhinos our fans would have to travel 13.5 miles to each home game
To share with Huddersfield Giants our fans would have to travel 11.5 miles to each home game
To share with Castleford Tigers at Glasshoughton our fans would have to travel between 9 and 12 miles (the most direct route is on very small roadways and takes you through Newmarket!!) to each home game
To share with Barnsley our fans would have to travel 9 miles to each home game
To play our home games as guests of Leeds United our fans would have to travel 8 miles to every home game
Mount Pleasant (Batley) is 7.5 miles, Crown Flatt at Dewsbury is 7 miles and the South Leeds Staduim of Hunslet is just 6 Miles
The stadium proposed at Newmarket is 4 miles out of town
no conclusions just some data....'"
What are the capacities of the stadiums. Bare in mind that we need 12k for 1 franchise point and no more than about 14k if our current crowds are to be no less than 40% of the capacity for another franchise point.
