Quote="bellycouldtackle"I note the comments of Get em on side ref and would be interested to know how you would have managed the situation. From what I have heard we have been in talks with DB and his agent since the end of last season. They declined our offers and about two weeks ago the board, JK etc accepted that DB was not going to sign a contract extension.
Very shortly after Hudds get in touch advising that they have an interest in DB. A deal is agrred in a very short period of time that is satisfactory to firstly John Kear, then the board, then the Hudds player / players who will be playing at Wakefield, all the agents and the Hudds club.
Not an easy deal to put together, very difficult to make sure all parties are happy.
That said I look forward to reading how Get em on side ref would have managed the situation. If what I here is true the deal looks great for us. The only people who I understand are not happy are the Hudds players who are not looking forward to having DB as a team mate.'"
Don't hold your breath. I'm sure GEOSR is busy finetuning his CV to submit for the FA Chief Exec job. Such high calibre sports administrators are thin on the ground you know!
I understood the sticking point to be negociations over this "cash settlement" / korki.... I understand currently us and hudds pay 50% of korki's wage and huddersfield still pay his win bonus'. The cash settlement is now huddersfield paying a bigger proportion of korki's wage untill he is OoC, then he will become a wakefield player and we will pick up 100% of his wage bill.
now this is ironed out and said huddersfield player is happy to come to wakefield the danny brough deal can be signed sealed and approved by all parties.
it has cost huddersfield an awful lot of money to secure/sign brough....if anyone at huddersfield puts danny in a danny brough mood, he could be a very expensive mistake!!!!
