| Play-offs are pretty much irrelevant.
Either Cougars get reinstated in the Championship or get at least the £75k compensation mentioned by Dreamer if they have to play in League 1.
Think the Cougar directors need to politely request a meeting with Brian Barwick/Nigel Wood (without lawyers) to see what can be agreed.

| On the petition website the latest news suggests that Sheffield Eagles have thrown their lot in with us and will share costs if an appeal is made to the High Court. Anyone else heard that? Haven should join in too.

| So what happens if whilst all this is going on, Batley end up winning the playoffs?? Can't see rfl doing what NRL did to Melbourne for salary cap breaches and revoking their titles, the don't have the integrity to do so.

| I have seen sight of information(the validity I don't know) that suggests you cannot contest the decision of the tribunal and this is a agreement by all clubs. This is what I have seen so like I say not sure how true this is, but with that in mind Batley are not going to be relegated I'm pretty sure of that. The play offs will continue. I think the only thing that could happen now is the Cougars reinstated (unlikely) or they get comp. I have also seen sight of something that suggests any legal action against the RFL places the clubs RFL membership in jeopardy so not sure what affect this will have.
Genuinely, for a day or two, I actually believed this would be resolved by the RFL pretty quickly without the need for legal action and that common sense would prevail. Sadly, I then hit myself very hard for being such an idiot realising that we are not dealing with an organisation that possesses common sense. I am aghast it's dragged on this long and assume the RFL are digging their heals in. I'm pleased we have been told we have a strong case, but then I've never heard a solicitor say anyone has a weak case! I support the club in having a pop at this, but as this drags on I can only think we will get comp at very best. Hope I'm wrong, but it would be nice resolved one way or another to avoid an unnecessary loss of players.

| Bradford Dudley Hill (National Conference League) has just been fined and docked two points for fielding an ineligible player earlier this season against Kells. Might be wrong but think the NCL is signed up to the RFL's Operational Rules!!

| Are you POSITIVE about this information CHC?
If so, will you please provide the source of your information (with the appropriate reference to it) as Dudley Hill are members of BARLA.

| Considering whats happened in the last few weeks I couldnt believe the RFL let Workington play Jordan James at Dewsbury last Sunday on dual reg even though he hadn't played the required 6 games prior to the playoffs, nothing wrong with Worky they did the right thing but the decision to let him play by the rfl as he's been ill was, well bizarre.

Not bizarre at all. It's clearly in the RFL Operational rules (B3:16). You know, the ones Batley ignore or pretend they haven't read.

| It really is simple people.if the team had been good enough they wouldn't have been relegated. They weren't so went down.
Is it really that difficult to understand?
What other teams did is irrelevant , the team and coaching simply were not good enough to deal with the past season.
It is possible to identify key points of failure but it's water under the bridge(and a lot of bridges have been burned), it's how the club/team carry on from this that is the key.

But this thread is 'latest on the appeal'? Why don't you start another thread titled 'we were actually better than last season but still I consider us to be not good enough'. Ultimately I agree but you can't deny there is an investigation going on with help of a lawyer?
The phrase appeal isn't relevant. This isn't an appeal it's a possible legal challenge which were told has a strong case. If you aren't interested fine, don't look on this thread. Is it that difficult to understand?

dont think that will happen seen as they and 2 other clubs did it the year before and nothing was done about that then so why this time or is it because theres a change of circumstances in the league ?????????

I'm not sure what's going on with Leaguefan these days. He was once a regular poster then after several severe verbal ar$e kickings declared he would never post on these boards again.
He makes a contentious post then won't enter into debate - Seems he has taken up trolling . Maybe that's why he's worried about burning bridges
