| Looks like Neil Lowe will be leaving the club, according to the League Express. He refused to play for the reserve team after been picked. and he has shown he is not a team player Eaton said.
Also Craig Fawcett is allowed to join another club only on loan.

| Only talking about Lowe last night and we were wondering what had happened.
If someone doesnt want to play for the club then its better that they go.

| You only have to look at the size of his belly to see that it is not so much a lack of commitment to Keighley but a lack of commitment to the game as a whole. No great loss in my opinion, he cost us far more points than he scored. Maybe being selected for Scotland (depsite them struggling to find enough scottish players to put a team together) put a wee chip on the mans shoulder.
IMHO.

| Barry has done the right thing as no player is bigger than the club. I think Neil is a good player but not as god as he clearly believes.
Regarding Craig I feel sorry for him, unfortunately for him as Barry says current half backs are doing wel and you do not change a winning format unless you have to.
Its up to current players to keep on form because if not players like Craig will nip in and take their spot I see thiis as positive and shows the depth of the squad.

| Neil reminds me of Solomona at the bulls.
A great player going forward but missing something in defence.
Barry has taken the right approach as team moral has to be put first.

Quite right, morale is a big factor in a team game such as rugby and this is a good move by the coach. I would just change your second sentence and add the words 'for 5 minutes', after 'a great player going forward'.

| Now stop it you being so negative, you know we cant have that happening.
There is one big plus from this.
Now is the time for another player, to make his claim for a first team place.

| Barry Eaton, the Keighley Cougars Head Coach, has confirmed that the Co-operative Championship One club will allow Scotland World Cup forward Neil Lowe to leave the club.
Lowe was left out of the Cougars first team that played Blackpool Panthers in a league fixture on Sunday after turning down an opportunity to play for the reserve team against Whitehaven on Saturday.
Eaton said: “Neil didn’t leave us with any alternative after refusing to play for the reserves.
“No one is bigger than the club and we have a culture at the Cougars of everybody playing for each other.
“If any player is not prepared to go along with that then it’s better for all concerned if they find another club.
“We’re now willing to listen to offers for Neil.”
Eaton is also prepared to make halfback Craig Fawcett available for loan spells at other clubs.
He explained: “Craig is still very much part of my plans but, unfortunately, for him he’s stuck behind two halfbacks Danny Jones and Jon Presley, who are playing particularly well at the moment.
“When Craig didn’t get into the first team after the early rounds of the Northern Rail Cup we discussed the possibility of him being allowed to go on loan if he were to be offered an opportunity.
“Craig’s too good to be restricted to reserve grade rugby league and he needs to be playing at first team level more often than he is at the moment.
“But I have to stress that Craig is being made available only on a loan basis”.

Its a brave coach, but none the less the best coaches who can make such a decision when faced with so many injuries. So big hats off to Barry, he is the man. The team will surely respond well to this.
Shame for Craig but what can you do. Knowing our luck, he will go on loan then the others will be injured. Good luck to him where he goes.

| It said in the programme that barrow have released a player for exactly the same reason. Who do these players think they are, thinking they have the god given right to 1st team rugby. Neil Lowe has let his team-mates down badly by refusing to play in the reserves, and he has let the club down, in particular Helen, who was trying to help him find work when he got back from Australia. The perfect examples on how to be team players are Craig Fawcett, Lee Maples and Sam Gardner, who have all featured in the reserves this year.

| I have been thinking about this. It is unlikely Lowe will get many offers from other clubs due to his travelled nature and the need to go to press about his lack of commitment.
Is this not one of those moment in life when you need to stop, reflect and change. Unless Lowe is happy to have played 1 world cup game and achieve nothing special, surely, now is the time for him to hold his hands up, say, I have been a complete duck, sorry lads, sorry barry, sorry cougars. Get his (all of it) in the gym, and work hard to get himself in shape and prove to people he is commited to this game and the club. That way, he keeps a job and the cougars get the player they thought they had.
Reading posts on other forums it appears the fans of other clubs dont want him, although that is not to say the managers will listen to the fans.
I guess the next 7-14 days will be telling. Is it all over for Lowe? has Lowe given up? Is he a quitter?

| I guess that would be the ideal scenario but he appears to have got a lot of peoples backs up and also Barry is a proud man and I can't see him going back on his clear intent on keeping the squad tightly knit , it's all over for niel lowe at cougar park I think..

| I think it be very worrying if Barry was to dig his heels in, if Neil showed he was worth a first team place.
All this would do is send the wrong message to players.

Good last post Andy, been off board for a while , mainly because there is a lot going on at club in background , we are desperately trying to get a TEAM on the pitch and Club has enough current problems and lads need to get down and churn out the results till we get back to normal.
Not that we merry few, causes the club any problems. ??
But i know our Simon cannot resist sneaking a look at the Forum and the PRESS releases etc and although they are not up there with the Super Leagues lads theses lads all have their levels, of personal pride and expectations . They do get knocked back a bit by comments .
Can you imagine our Simon the other week dropped for the Home match against YORK with Baz having not one recognised PROP in the Team ??.
Dont know whether he was relieved we managed the WIN or ed cause hed lost Winning pay . But its all part of the Team scene.
Ive said little about Lowe without concrete foundation and as a players players given my personal view on him as to how id treat him as a player on the pitch and a TEAM mate. Having said all that and ive said this times before these lads do not a LIVING MAKE out of this daft bloody game of ours.
They never will and the mony they pick up, well it doesnt even pay for our Simons car !!!.
No excuses for Lowe if hes refused to play in Reserves.
Not quite the same comparison, but our lad ( 23 yrs old ) would not even consider not turning out for whoever he was requested to play for or how many game or whatever position he had to play in . Its part of the job and the Contract.
Recently Simon has been going into the Club early for Video sessions with Baz to try and sort out some Defense problems hes been coming across its all part of the game and the TEAM effort you are either in or you are NOT.
But as Andy points out if Lowe is short of cash and has not got regular work at the moment , its a whole different ball game, especially if your contract includes WINNING Pay with 1 st team not the Reserves.
Its going to be an odd situation if nobody can match Cougars Contract commitmment with Mr Lowe and will not pay up what Baz needs for him .
EVERYBODY is feeling the financial breeze.
Sundays run away against Blackpool . NOWT -- this Team has much more in the tank, give us another 3 games to get settled back with a few proper Props and an established 2nd Row and well take this League to the cleaners including Dewsbury .
Fancy the double over them and on Telly.

| Bexsnr, yes, I fancy the double over dewsbury on tele as well although there are flying at the moment so more likely they will do the double on us. Saying that I agree we are week by week getting more right than wrong and the team are really starting to flow. York is however the next big test, good to hear one of the march brothers is out as it will mean 1/2 the number of unpunished head shots and flopping. Does anyone know if knighty will be playing?

| I would have thought that Barry has to dig his heels in especially on this type of thing otherwise I think this could show weakness, what every player in all sports should understand is they form part of a unit and if that means having to play in the 2nd team now and then so be it.
Can you imagine if Barry said right Mr Lowe you win you rule you are guranteed a place now that would put any coach in a poor position with the rest of the squad.
Spitting dummies out hold no sway for me, if he had been playing better than the others he may be in a position of strength but sadly as much as I admire him as a skilled player he has not.
I hope he knuckles down and perhaps realises he was asked to play in reserves because it was needed to help the reserve players too.

| Good for him if he is. Also somebody who knows him should 'no more nail him' to the tread mill for a fortnight and we will once again have back a player who adds another edge to this team.

| Hopefully hes realised his mistake and has appolgised. Now he must do his talking on the pitch to get the Cougar Faithful back on his side and prove he is committed to the club and will play regardless which team he his picked for.
