Some decisions went our way, and Donny can be a class act, but we did get on a bit of a roll that won the match. I thought there were signs that we could be getting our form back just at the right time. Handforth seems to have got going again (40/20 what a beaut) and confidence must be on the up.
It's no coincidence that our improvement in form coincides with Handforth and Jones being reunited and Shickell returning to fitness. I also thought March brought himself on at just the right time in the game.
Handforths "kick through" which led to a try in the first half appeared to be an initial fumble which he kicked before it hit the ground. The ref was right on the spot and had the perfect view so he must have deemed it ok. Law (I think) scored one after being engulfed by Doncaster players and the ball popping out. Again it was right in front of the ref who said it was ripped out so play on and try ok. When you consider all the 50/50 calls that have gone against us this season, and lost us games, I think we are due a bit of return fortune.
The first 20 was dour forwards slog but it set us up nicely to produce some lovely passing moves.
We won what could have been a very difficult game. To my mind, the problem now is staying focused especially in defence.
A good gritty performance, when Jones and Handforth are on the pitch I always feel we are in with a shout.
Just a little moan, I know money has been tight this year, but if we stay in the championship any chance we can get a half descent grounds man, full credit to Gary I believe you may have been filling in this year. But I am pretty sure Shick was brought down buy a covering tackle from a dandelion, the weeds were on full parade yesterday down that side, some advertising boards are now obscured by weeds, just gives the air that the place is a little run down, as I said only a little moan.
