Keighley Cougar’s ground-breaking fund-raising scheme, the KC Club, has delivered its first donation to Sue Ryder Care’s Oxenhope hospice, Manorlands. The KC Club, the first of its kind in Rugby League sees members receive discount offers from businesses throughout Keighley and District and part of the profits are donated to Manorlands.
Elkie Fisher, the Cougar’s Sales Manager, who is responsible for running the KC Club said: “We’ve been fortunate that most of the KC Club members have continued with their support in spite of the difficult times that we’re enduring at the moment.
“Our members like the idea of being able to help the Cougars maintain professional Rugby League in the town and, at the same time, support a worthy cause like Manorlands”.
When receiving the cheque for £1,170 at halftime during last Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup tie against Hunslet Hawks Andrew Wood the Fund Raising Manager from Manorlands indicated that the funds would be directed into purchasing one of three special beds the hospice were keen to acquire.
