It'd be really difficult to replace him. Despite the success of Torres and Gerrard up top, I think we'd have to revert Gerrard back to CM and bring in a forward.

F*ck that. Sign a midfielder and stick to the formation. Gerrard is far too good to play in midfield. Xabi isn't irreplaceable, there are plenty of players out there just as talented, it's just about them adapting and converting that into the PL.

Thats the problem for me we had a team which was used to the Prem we are now going to bring in untested players they only way I could see this as a positive would be 21mill plus RVN and WS (Even on loan for few seasons) and use the money to bring Silva in.

Aquilani would be a good signing but Italians arent always the best in the PL. Silva is nailed on if we get the money but i think Rafa will want a player plus money for Alonso.

One or two rumours linking us with that Basque lad again - Javi Martinez. I think he'd be better suited to English football than Aquilani, but Aquilani is older and probably has more technically at the moment.

Sneijder is good but I don't know where he'll fit in. He isn't a good winger, and he isn't better than Gerrard in the hole. He can't hold the midfield. You could play him on the left and get him to cut in, but I'm unsure whether he'd fit well in England as well.

His injury record is rotten in a league which isn't half as physical as the EPL. And it'd be wrong to expect him to perform to his true potential straight away.

I'd go down to Arsenal and sign Alex Song - he's really impressed me. Particularly at Anfield when he was probably better than Arshavin in the 4-4 draw.

I don't think we'll rush him in if we get him. But Alonso hardly had the greatest injury record whilst at the club, but he managed to put that behind him and had a bit of luck. I'm sure Rafa would get to the root of these injury problems and try and solve them.

My only problem with Aquilani is he's a little lightweight and often goes missing. Xabi had the same problem though a few years ago, if Rafa's willing to invest £15m in him then he must see the potential.
