| I went city's game on Saturday and whilst the entertainment wasn't great I enjoyed the experience.
If Adebayor stays that motivated all year he'll get well over 20 league goals. Lovely touch from Tevez for the goal but I have to admit feeling sorry for him when he got subbed. He looked straight over to the bench and, sure enough, off he trotted. Some things never change. Must be especially galling to be replaced by Bellamy who was gash.

A lot of truth in that – but it's worth pointing out that a year ago it would just have been Ireland!
I thought Barry was superb yesterday. He reads the game so well.

Everton have got a good deal out of it. But it matters little to City as they've weakened their rivals with only a week left in the transfer market, whilst adding a quality and needed player to the ranks.
Looks good for City, was reading Guillem Balague's thoughts, and he said they'll move for a passing midfielder after they get Lescott. Don't see what's wrong with Barry and Ireland myself but some people are never pleased. Who would City fans like? I know a certain Brazilian plying his trade on Merseyside who is definitely due a £30m move to Eastlands
Seriously, depending on where he wants this midfielder to play, Moutinho or Veloso from Sporting would add quality on the ball to City's team. Not too sure how many of the highest bracket players are available at the moment - if any, but it should be a good final week.

Hughes stated in the press last week that Tevez is not ready to play 90 mins. TBH he didn't look fit.
As for Bellamy, he had a terrible game but he has been excellent for us. More often than not, one of best three players in each game he has played for us. Against Blackburn, he was arguably our MOTM. It is also worth noting that he is returning from injury.

Moyes may have squeezed a couple of £m more out of us, but then everyone knows he now has £22-24m burning a hole in his pocket. The chances are that Everton will end up having to pay over the odds to get the player(s) they want.
I think it's a good move for us. He's no great shakes but he provides exactly what we need - an aerial presence in both boxes, physical strength and pace.

There have been rumours on forums about attacking midfielders. I cannot see it being a player who is expecting to play every week. I would imagine that if we sign an attacking midfielder, it will be someone who is nearing the end of his career, or a talented youngster.
There have been rumnours we could be signing Sylvinho - Champions League winner 2009

We need cover for Barry & Ireland, particularly if Johnson remains injured.
I think Hughes will concentrate this week on sorting out the squad players. We have several players who are disillusioned at dropping down the pecking order and, in the interests of club harmony, could be replaced. I expect Dunne, Petrov, Ben Haim, Garrido & Benjani to leave this week and 3 or 4 back up players to come in.
It wouldnt surprise me if City tried to pull off a Robinho style, last minute, big name signing, but I have no idea who that would be.

| Everton have doen very well to get £24m for Lescott, only worth about half of that so it give Moyes the chance to buy 2/3 players.
Good finish by Owen on Saturday, glad it came quickly for him and hopefully it should settle him down now.

city looked good for about 20 minutes, it was always likely that it would time time for city's team to bed down. How slow is Bridge by the way? It looked like he was running in treacle.
I thought Doyle made an impact when he came on and I can certainly see Wolves having a half decent stab at staying up although if that game was played in 2 months time city would have spanked them.
As for Tevez, fit or not, it's always going to be tempting to substitute him because his attitude is, for the most part, first class. He's less likely to sulk and be a nob than Adebayor and Robinho are. Tevez got a bit silly towards the back end of his time at United but I don't think United/Fergie helped that at all.
That's part of Hughes' challenge as manager - whichever way you cut it, he has a big squad of top tier, or very close to top tier, players and keeping them happy is going to be difficult. Nice problem to have though.
As I say, I enjoyed the experience - I like the stadium and the 'my first city game' stuff on the concourses. As an aside, there is at least one 'Rag' who works for city and who helpfully kept me in touch with United's win.

I agree with that. Everton have taken the p[ii[/iss a bit but we can afford it so what the hell!
The only trouble for them is that they have less than a week to spend any of that money.
Of course, when they snatch someone off another club it will all be fair and above board won't it?

Would our defensive weaknesses be better addressed by Jagielka or Lescott?
Watched him play for England, and he looked well out of his depth. Lescott looks a tad more assured and can play LB. Our reserve left-backs are Garrido and McGivern. Neither are good enough to play in the PL IMHO.
TBH when I watched Everton last season, I thought Lescott was the better of teh two. Neither are any great shakes and are helped a comnsiderable amount by Everton's negative tactics.
Is Jagielka a City fan, or is it Michael Tongue? I remember watching a Sheff Utd game a few years ago and the commentator said one of them went to City's school of excellence and the other was a Blue.

| Think they are both as good as each other in the defence. Lescott will always get a few goals from the set peice which is were we have struggled the last few year. I would like to Petrov too stay tbh but the rest going wouldnt worry me. I dont think and want another big signing after Lescott in this window let the team settle see were we are in January and look at 2 big names then to give that boost to push on

| I think out of Jagielka and Lescott, Lescott is the one City needed more. If you were to compare defences, Toure is very much like Jagielka, quick, agile and brilliant on the deck, but isn't the most dominant of defenders. Jagielka is much the same, hence why he and Lescott clicked so well, because Lescott was a big, strong aerially dominant defender, whilst he's not too shoddy on the deck, either.
Still think City could do with a full/wing back to play on the right, someone to offer a bit more width.

We sure do.
Bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk has one reliable 'in the know' poster, and he happens to be a Spurs fan - strange, I know. This lad stated that the coaching team at City simply do not rate Richards at all. He's first choice at the moment, so that says a lot. Ideally, we need a Cafu-style of player.
