Newcastle went out with a whimper. Appalling 2nd half. At least they can clear out the dead wood. If you're a Newcastle fan you've got to hope that they don't slide into financial oblivion.

As for Hull City, they did remarkably well to stay up. Had their season been reversed Brown would have been hailed as a genius. As it is, as much as he has to take credit for their start, he must take a lot of the blame for their pathetic finish. He's also come across as a classless tool.

It'll be very interesting to see how Hull and Newcastle go in their respective leagues next season.

Latics were superb today against Pompey and should have had 2 or 3. Think Pompey could struggle again next year as they were really poor today.

Biggest cheer of the day though without doubt was when Newcastle went down

When we beat Hull at home we went clear in 7th with a game in hand and an easier run than the sides round us. We lost games we SHOULD have been winning like Blackburn, Stoke and West Brom. Still, 11th place is better than last year so we're slowly improving.

Valencia is no doubt going and so we need a right winger (talk of Pennant which would be ok), two new strikers with one in the target man mould and another left sider to back up N'Zogbia. That should see us right.
