Only if they start badly.
So, realistic expectations/hopes for your team this year?
Blue Jays are pretty much going to blow this season. I'm just hoping for a solid return for Shaun Marcum, a good 2nd season from Ricky Romero and Aaron Hill to continue getting more awesome. Anything on top of that is a bonus really. I fully expect the manager to me off on a regular basis by continuing to misuse the BP, stick with Wells in the 4th spot regardless of form and only give John McDonald one start a month.

| Think we have bought well in Lackey, Chapman, Scutaro and Beltre hopefully Ellsbury can do well in Left field and Dice-K can sort his act out because he may be needed later on in the season.
Losing Varitek as primary catcher means that i think there will be changes only for the better and V-Mart is a great catcher and hitter.
Short stop problem has finally been sorted and Lowell's problems at 3rd base have been sorted too. Youkilis won't be having nightmares about 3rd base anymore.
Right field is a bit dodgy with Drew out there but Reddick has done well in Spring Training so he may have a minor shout at first grade action.
I think we can go well this season and be in October again.

Great article from ESPN on life without Roy Halliday and the incredible 'Halliday Effect'. Well worth a read.
Taken from the article:
"Over the past eight seasons, Roy Halladay's team was 60 games over .500 (149-89) when he started -- and 71 games under .500 (493-564) when anyone else started. Scary.
Want to look at this another way? OK, when Halladay started between 2002-09, the Blue Jays had a .626 winning percentage. When anyone else got the ball, they had a .466 winning percentage. If you forgot your calculators, that comes to a 160-point Halladay Effect.
That's more than double the Sabathia Effect (64 points) over the same period. And it's 26 points higher than the only other ace impact that was even in the same solar system, the Johan Santana Effect (134 points)."

| That said, I can't imagine that the Mets sell out that often. Why not try the ticket office (or website). That way you're not paying over the odds and you can probably pick them up the day of the game, save you paying a daft postage fee.

| Speaking of ticket prices, I cannot believe the Jays are increasing theirs. Of all years to do it, this should be the year they reduce them, or at least have some sort of offer on (Ie - $5 for 500 level tickets all year round) to get the fans back in, if any way to turn the fans away ala Halladay, this is a close second!

If you book through Ticketmaster just pick them up at the Will Call window. Show your credit card and they print them out in front of you.....simples!
Mets are at home 5th-11th July to the Reds & Braves. 27th July-1st Aug to D`back and Cards. Hope this fits in?

Finally a big name at a 'small market' team decides to stick with them instead of going to the Red Sox or Yankees. The Twins had to pay him what he wanted or they could have been playing to small crowds in their brand new stadium.

I know, it's a joke. That's one of the reasons I bought a flex pack. That way I get to go to premium priced games and only pay the regular price. Also saves me a bundle on rip-off booking fees and guarantees decent seats.

We'll be there 4-10th so will have to catch on of the Reds' games. I'll look into ticketmaster.
Must admit the mets are our last choice of seeing any decent sport while we're in NY, seeing as the the NBA,NFL & NHL arent in season!

| The quest for 28 begins sunday at Fenway. The team looking strong throughout, we've also gotten younger in the offseason. Looking forward to see Hughes start as well.

| Just waiting for our taxi to Tampa airport after a great week of spring training. Watching the Jays beat up a little on Doc was strangely satisfying.
Still not sure how Tallet gets a starting spot over Cecil, who has had an impressive spring. I expect it's more to do with who's out of options than anything else. Eveland deserves his spot though, was superb vs Detroit this week.
Best facial hair in the camp surprisingly belonged to Lyle Overbay, who was going for a Sal Fasano look. I hope he keeps it for the regular season. We need more dodgy staches.

Werth has the best facial hair in baseball.

When the new NHL season started I made a new one so just make sure you put 10/11 in the title if you do a new thread.

Not anymore, he's shaved it all off. Most disappointing. I was hoping to get a picture of that fantastic beard.

| So the Red Sox start the season with a win against the Yankees last night. To quote a Toronto Journo, "As a catcher, Jorge Posada is a fine DH".
Blue Jays get underway today with a tough series in Texas. We've been hitting pretty well coming into the season (especially our 1-2-3 spots) so lets hope we can keep it going. Very nervous for Marcum, making his first big league start since August 2008.
