Apparently McCall is now looking to reduce the size of the squad to let the likes of Colbeck, Bentham, Penford and Medley move on loan to get regular first team football.

Presumably he hasn't noticed that they are players not good enough to get into the 89th best team in England so there may be a shortage of offers.

Sadly, I can see another defeat tonight and season where finishing 22nd will be the closest we get to success.

Apparently there will be more Bradford fans than Morecombe there tonight so lets hope the players take some motivation from that.

I'm not sure it's motivation that's lacking, they're just in the main a not very good bunch of players.

Harsh result tonight i thought we did enough to win the game and certainly should not have lost,our poor finishing cost us unfortunatly.
Morecambe sounded like they have alot of pace on the flanks so it just goes to show that if you have a little pace in this division then your gonna do well.
On a positive note Ndungu-Nsungu played very well tonight.

We need several players with pace someone abit like SW Phillips who can run and attack the box and whip in a quick cross,its ok having a fairly solid midfield but without any real pace we will get beat over and over again.

McCalls got some work to do. I'm becoming increasingly bemused and annoyed by people placing sole blame on the players, just because a legend is in charge.

It was the opposite with Todd. And it's just selecting a scapegoat. We have a good enough squad to get out of this league IMHO, we really do lack a manger with some pedigree of experience, or at least a number 2 with some nounce.

It pains me to say it, but I can't see us going anywhere at this moment with McCall.

I agree, presuming that you mean getting out of it in a downwards direction.

I don't think this squad is cut out for League 2 football at all, we don't have enough presence or aggression for starters, but have got plenty of players who like to be flashy and skilful as I said earlier in the thread I think McCall's lack of recent experience at this level has let him down in terms of recruitment.

That is clearly the key issue, and one what must be presumed a matter of worry to the club.

We lack a real manager, who can teach these players how to play nitty, grotty football. Yes, had we been playing in the Championship, McCall could have put some of his strategies and tactics he learnt from Warnock into practice, but it must be assumed he has come into this job unprepared for the challenges basement football brings.

I just hope he learns from, and can rectify, his mistakes.

The silliest thing he has done was to say that is we didn't get promoted he would consider himself to have failed, too many people got way too carried away over the summer - you can't turn around a decline like the one we've suffered in a couple of weeks, legendary ex player or not.

Some of the recruitment over the summer was baffling. I appreciate at the time the finances were sorted a lot of good players at this level would already have been attached, but we seemed determined to recruit a team of midgets with two target men up front. So there's no presence in midfield, which is essential at this level. Frankly, it's alright looking good on the ball but that alone won't get you out of this division other than downwards.

Typical City really, play crap against crap then turn it on against the team who had the best away record in the country.

I thought we were fairly impressive for long periods tonight but, as ever, the question is whether we can back it up.

It's also typical City, having gone two goals up in the 89th minute, to find a way to create a bit more drama at the end. Six points off the relegation places, things are looking up.

We were very lucky to get a point away at Mansfield last night,Rickets is a liability and almost cost us a goal on many occasions,the penalty that Mansfield were given was not a penalty but thankfully Rickets made a good save,in the second half Rickets brought a player down which was a stone cold penalty but the ref did'nt give it so we were very lucky there.
I thought we lacked any kind of creativity in midfield and we looked clueless at times,we were solid in defence but we had to do a little too much defending for my liking,the 2 strikers upfront were playing a mile away from each other so any flick on from midfield was quickly intercepted.
If we play like we did last night all season then we will be relegated without a doubt.
The only positive i can think of is Omar Daley looked a threat all game but to be honest him and Nsungu looked our only threat.
Must say our away support was fantastic yet again,there were around 600 away fans and only 2500 or so in the stadium.

That's been our problem all season, no class in midfield. Nicky Law is a class apart but struggling with the lack of quality and support around him. Cracking goal from Nix at the weekend though.

As for Paul Evans, I never want to see that guy in a City shirt again. I'm sorry, but he's just rubbish.
