| Quote ="Catalancs"To the causal observer, a list of Liverpool’s troubles right now would probably begin with an unusually cruel injury list. Next would be their manager’s inability to purchase any useful players since Fernando Torres (some may argue the case of Johnson, but 18 million quid?), and then a close third would be Rafa’s failure to produce a single young player of note since he arrived (is Insua that really good?).
So no prizes for guessing what 10,000 Liverpool fans will be taking to the streets to whinge about on Sunday afternoon - the owners of course. “They haven’t built our new stadium” - although most fans want to stay at Anfield. “They don’t give Rafa enough money” - well they gave him £40m for Dossena, Keane, Babel and Riera so would you shell out any more in their position? “They must sell up now” - the Americans are trying their hardest to shift the club.
Still, why let a valid argument get in the way of a good afternoon’s whining up at Anfield? Walk on indeed…'"

Well it depends what context the word is used in. Hargreaves, as a player, isn't useless, he's quality. Hargreaves, when fit, was a very good player for United and had a decent enough first season. Technically, he is of no use to United when injured, so you are right, but as a player, he isn't useless. Aquilani has missed two months of football for us, he probably won't be fully fit until around Christmas time, but that doesn't mean he's a useless player or has been a useless signing, we've just not been able to use him yet

| Quote ="Robbie Rotten"Well if a player isn't useful, what is he? I'd say the opposite of useful is useless. Useless, IMO, is another word for sh[ii[/it. I'm cool, I don't get worked up by forums, it just makes me cringe when I see lazy 'journalism'.
I think Aquilani will surprise everybody when he gets fit and into the groove of things, I hope he hits the ground running, but with him having no pre-season and having been out for the best part of what, 6 months? It's unlikely he'll come in at top form, however, I do believe he'll give us so much more than Lucas, even if he's half-cooked.'"
I don't he will suprise too many, ithink majority of people know he is quality, excellent talent however as I said when he signed my only concern would be an italian player coming over to the prem, I'm not convinced doesn't happen too often. His injury record isn't great at the best of times in Serie A, not sure if it'll improve here.
No doubt he'll notch one in derby though!

As always you come back with a reasoned argument. Trying to show me where you think I'm misinformed and then developing it into a healthy debate. Thank goodness for people like you or forums like this just wouldn't work.

| I'd be lying if I didnt say i was nervous about the game sunday, because since i was a little lad and told by my dad that I was a united fan, liverpool united games have always been nervous affairs and the biggest game of the season.
Tuesday i dreamt about the result sunday and the winning goal (yes that may be sad for a 27 year old married man).
Owen in front on the kop. My god there'd be a riot if that happens.

If two billionaires buy our club, promise us the spades will be dug in 60 days, promise they'll let the manager sign 'Snoogy Doogy' if needs be, and, I'm pretty sure I read them saying no debt will be placed on the club, although I'm not certain on that, then we're bound to be annoyed when they go back on the majority of their words.
I don't really see the point of the protests right now, I've said before, I'd rather protests happened closer to the refinancing, instead of the middle of the season when they're under no pressure from banks.
I think anyone would be happy if they were promised £300m+ stadiums, lots of backing to the manager to invest in the playing squad, etc., however, all they've done us whack debts onto the club, embarrass themselves in the media and lie to the fans.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if I knew in February '07 that we'd still have no stadium, all of the BS that has happened would happen and the club would be £200m+ in debt, then I wouldn't have been happy with the Americans coming in, not one bit, but I, nor did anybody else, anticipate such a situation to happen.
You'll probably pat yourself on the back and claim you've done a fine piece of angling, kudos to you if so.

Not at all.
You have to question however why Liverpool fans thought 2 billionaires would buy the club, build a new stadium and put millions in the transfer kitty, all out of goodwill and not expect any sort of return from it. Now you have lost 4 in a row it is apparently the time to protest? I don't get it.
Anyway I'm off now so will read your reply in due course.

They would obviously expect return, of course they would, however, there's been no stadium built, not one bit of progress with regards to that. The manager hasn't been backed like they said he would and they've utterly disgraced the club in the media. We thought, when they came in, that we'd make massive strides in playing catch up with United and Chelsea. We've probably spent more than both clubs since the Americans came in, but we still needed more backing, and the apparent 'the money was spent on renewing contracts', didn't quite wash with me.
As I said, I don't agree with the protests, I'm sure the majority do and will support SoS in their fight against the Americans, but for me, they've left it too late and the Americans will just laugh it off, like they have done with the majority of the protests over the past X amount of months.

In a way is does because the owners only come over a few times a season mainly the big games ie Mancs at home.

I don't mind negative things being said, I say negative things about my own club, but Karlos' point was almost like he was saying, "you were happy at first; what's changed?", well, as I pointed out, a lot has changed and I believe our criticism of the Americans is more than justified.
You could make some excellent points, however, when you're copy and pasting that drivel from the spoiler, it's very rare that we see both sides of the argument from you. Despite us debating it the other day, you will probably repeat the 'not a single youngster' line for the next X amount of years. I don't agree with it, as Insua has came through and we've seen Rafa give quite a few reserve players chances, but other than Insua, none have really taken it with both hands.

The piece I took from the Spoiler didn't include Insua. I edited it to include him because I recognise that he has been given a chance by Benitez. I don't however think he's anything to crow about.
If you noticed I didn't pass comment on the piece, in fact I amended it to make the points about Johnson and Insua yet some were falling over themselves to have a go at me. It would have been much more productive to have picked apart the piece pointing out where it was wrong and why. As I said a few days ago who better to pass comment on the goings on at Liverpool than the Liverpool fans themselves.
