| I would love to know exactly how much Rafa has spent while he has been there. It said in the paper yesterday he has signed over 90 players. (It was The Mirror though).

| Quote ="Nemanja"Ronaldo sale is included, Valencia isn't as he was signed after 30 June.
The fact that we had to sell £80m of player to make a profit is disturbing, and has come at a convenient time for the Glazer's when they are trying to work up this bond issue thing. Include that transfer and you have £40m profit instead of £40m loss, suddenly looks more appealing to investors, although surely they aren't that thick to believe it?'"
And £36m received up front for next seasons sponsorship

Don't suggest they've not backed him. His decisions re. signings are awful. Bar Reina and Torres who were hardly difficult to pick as being quality, none of his other signings have made the grade.
Surely you cannot defend the failure he has become? If all the signings he'd made were doing well, like you can say for David Moyes or Alex McLeish or O'Neill for example then people would agree with you. But I bet Rafa has spent well over £100m on utter rubbish.'"
Failure? one bad season in his whole reign makes him a failure?

You really think getting rid of him will change much?
You could bring Jose in and we still wouldn't make progress on the current top 4 under these owners we are just going to fall behind.
Can't believe people think we are going to bring someone new in the owners will give him money to splash and everything will be fine.
Truth is the club is debt ridden and its only going to get worse.

No, failure to win the Premier League despite stating it as your goal for the best part of a decade makes him a failure.
Lets face it, Rafa is a fraud. The Champions League win was a total fluke but the much more difficult challenge of winning the Premier League is way beyond him. Hundreds of millions of pounds spent on players whilst only selling one against his will can hardly be a source for sympathy for him.

| I don't buy the owners are to blame for Liverpool. They sanctioned big tranfers this summer in Johnson and Aquilani. I suppose the old "net spend" argument that Liverpool fans are so obbsessed about will rear it's ugly head.
United's current form is not down to the owners, it's down to the management and the players. Scouse fans need to realise that it's the same scenario with their club. Liverpool have one of the most expensive squads in the premier league and are under peforming. If some fans want to bury their head in the sand and blame the owners, good luck to them.

| The real fun(not if you are a Lpool fan) will come in May with No champons league football 2010-2011 season. Then the vultures Man City/ Chelsea will be out to test the resolve of the owners on the sale of their prize assets. Gerard and torres.

Fella, Rafa is a world class manager, he has world class pedigree, he's won numerous honours and his record speaks for itself. There is no way that the man is out of his depth, if he was, then there are 16 other managers in the league who are out of their depth because he's easily in the top 4 managers in the league. We're having a bad season but that doesn't make a career.

| As for Saddened. Honestly, stick to discussing the Xbox and the ice in Warrington, as you are so clearly out of your depth when it comes to footballing knowledge. Mascherano, a good squad player? That's why he'd walk into pretty much any team in world football. Glen Johnson a 2m player? Aquilani a 5m player? Oh dear oh dear, utterly clueless.
When fit and playing together, our first XI can compete with the majority of top sides in world football. It doesn't mean I think we're better, just that we are up there. Our squad depth is shocking, nobody will deny that, but just dismissing some absolutely fantastic players as poor and nothing players is pretty laughable, especially from a bluenose whose squad consists of poor, nothing players.
As for the board backing Rafa. I think our squad is the 5th most valuable in the league and I'm pretty sure we have the 5th highest wage bill. Unlike other clubs (United, Arsenal), we've not had the time to build from our academy, we've not had plenty of players through the academy like United have Giggs, Scholes, Neville, O'Shea, Fletcher and Evans, whereas we have Gerrard and Carragher. United have been able to spend big on players as squad players, as they've had plenty of places taken up by academy produced players, we're having to sign more players which means we're buying quantity not quality. It doesn't mean Rafa's transfer record is good, it's poor in many aspects but he has made some fantastic buys and missed out on some fantastic players to no fault of his own.

How dare you talk sense. Rafe decided that to turn a team that finished 2nd into title contenders that they should spend a whopping £18m on a right back. It's not his fault though.
In his defence, he has managed to turn a one man team into a two man team during his reign.

| I'm amazed Rafa is still in his job. Think I saw that Liverpool have lost 10 of their last 20 with 6 wins and 4 draws which is embarrassing for a team looking to challenge for the title.
On his transfer record I agree he paid too much for Johnson who i personally had valued at around £7-8mil not the astronomical sum Liverpool parted with for him. Rafa does like to accumulate average as can be seen by the current Liverpool squad, which is going to continue to struggle with Gerrard, Torres and Benayoun out while Carragher is looking like he is past it.
Only thing is who do Liverpool get to replace him? They need to finish in the top 4, looking less likely by the week, to be able to give any manager some money in the summer so do they stand behind Rafa or do they get rid and stump up some cash and go for broke on getting 4th this year? Gunna be interesting viewing whatever the outcome.

I've seen that you're linked with him, then I saw that he's wanting £85,000 a week to come back to England, so presumed that you wouldn't be signing him.

We all know Sky bet should be taken seriously after they stopped taking bets last year on Benitez still staying here. We should've signed Franck Ribery as well by now.
