The White Sox claim Alex Rios off waivers and we let him go, with nothing in return. The genius that is JP Retardi strikes again. Apparently it's to free up some salary to give us more flexibility - shame you didn't think of that less than 2 years ago when you offered Rios that big money deal eh JP?



Add this to the Frank Thomas and BJ Ryan fiascos and it's amazing that he still has a job.

The cynic in me would say that Cito getting thrown out of the game and Butterfield making all of the Bull Pen decisions played a big part in this victory. Our relief pitching was very effective. A few timely hits also helped.

Back to what we know last night, a bit of controversy regaarding Posadas HR though. Ande hasn't posted for a while?

I can understand why Cito asked for the replay because from the dugout it must have looked close, but the TV footage clearly showed is was just beyond Inglett and over the wall when the fan caught it. Wasn't even a close call.

I suppose it was a bit much to expect our BP to hang on to a 1 run lead against the Yanks 2 nights running, but why Cito left Jesse Carlsson out there after giving up back to back homers is beyond me. His management of the BP is just awful.

I could probably add Cito to that list because of his over-use of League and Carlson and his refusal to drop Wells down to 8th or 9th in the order.

Nice to see Travis Snider back up and making his presence felt already. Just a shame it had to be at the expense of Joe Inglett, who was riding an 8 game hit streak at the time. Given the lack of production from the majority of our bats, it seems like a daft move when we could just DFA Millar, who's bat is obviously not trusted enough by the manager to pinch hit for a guy batting below 200 in the final out of a 1 run game ..... even though they'd already taken our 1B nam (Overbay) out for a pinch runner which would have required Millar in the game to take over 1B should we have gone to extra innings.

I'm not saying Millar would have hit the ball, but he's supposed to be a DH amongst other things. If you can't trust a DH to pinch hit then what fooking use is he? Oh that's right, we need a righty for 1B because our manager had decided that Lyle Overbay can't hit lefties (despite the fact that he hits them just as well as Millar does)

The mind boggles, it truely does.





Add to that our inability (or unwillingness) to sign 3 of our top 4 draft picks and I'm about ready to tear my hair out. What a useless fooking organisation.

1 Travis Snider - looking like he belongs in the big league
2 Randy Ruiz - for making JP look like a prize tool (not that he needs much help in that department) and proving that big men can hustle


3 Aaron Hill - just hit the 30 HR mark, amazing season for Aaron
4 Ricky Romero - still in with a shout of ROY and can be devastating when he gets on a roll
5 Josh Roenicke - gets better with every outting of relief and is making the Rolen trade look like we got much more than a salary dump out of it
6 Last chance to see Johnny Mac in a Jays uniform on those rare occasions they actually let him play

There's not been a lot of MLB games on ESPNA for the last week as the channel is full of 12 year olds playing baseball(who wants to watch little kids playing baseball)plus like in the US it's starting to become the Red Sox/Yankees channel.

I don't think many people actually watch them to be honest, used to like the 6pm games, or the triple headers.

i wacthed every game when i was free on espn but cause im a cheap skate im not bothering paying for espn america lol

I can't afford the subscription to ESPN America, I'll probably get it for the World Series.

It's a shame 5 dropped their coverage really.

You can get mlb.tv for the rest of the year for $35. Might be worth a look. I expect there'll be a fair few day games in Sept as teams make up for all the rained off games.

Jays actually avoided the sweep last night and young Rzepczynski pitched pretty well. I really like this lad, he has a great work ethic. A chip off the old Doc, you could say.



Thanks to a wild pitch we managed a super-rare come from behind walk-off win too. Not seen much of that this season.

Added bonus for me that Mac got a rare start at 3rd and made a couple of great defensive plays. It's so worth putting up with his dodgy bat to see that every day. Shame the Jays management don't see it that way.

I'd hang on until September for mlbtv because it was only $19.99 for the remainder of the season last year at the same time.

The Reds have finally won two games in a row for the first since I can't remember lol. Probably the first time since the All-Star break.

I still keep checking out the scores. Usually I can catch a game or two on the weekend but unless we play at the Cubs during the week there's not much chance of watching a game live so I check the scores in the morning. Of course I can catch a game today at the same time City are on against Palace lol.

Nice. We managed one 4 game win streak this season, sweeping the White Sox. That was back in May when we were still good.

Thankfully the LLWS has finished,maybe now ESPN can getback to showing proper baseball now.Saying that it looks like the seasons over for the White Sox,only bad form from the Tigers is keeping them in the division race.
