Phil Blake, another rugby league player who while a genius in attack couldn't tackle the top off a pudding, has been appointed to a defensive coaching job with rugby union...
news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sp ... 175j5.html
Two in fact. One for the Wallabies and one for the Force.
He joins the likes of Les Kiss as another attacking rugby league player, not known for defence, ending up in such a role.
The Wallabies, who haven't won anything since their last rugby league tackling tutor, John Muggleton, left, may be a chance of winning something again...

It does look unprofessional when the union is on telly and not all players have names on the back. Especially for a 'Premier' league.

14 consecutive losses between arguably the world's top two sides!

I'm currently in Brussels and last night was at a FC Brussels Molenbeek v Tienen game. The players had numbers and a sponsor's name on every jersey, and they don't make programmes- which is, incredibly, even worse!

Shamelessly lifted from www.rugbyleagueinternationalscores.com,
So a short, yet interesting post today, I hope. I got an email from John Slade at Estonian Rugby, so over there the governing body covers not only Union but League as well. The email is about Russian Rugby Unions search for players for their team in the Union World Cup.
“Any New Zealand based rugby player – or indeed anybody from Estonia, if they are willing to travel – who has at least one Russian grandparent and the paperwork to prove it is invited to participate in a couple of trial games overseen by Russia’s coach Steve Diamond and his assistants Henry Paul, the former England and Gloucester centre, and Jos Baxendell, the ex-Sale stalwart.
Helpfully for Diamond, the International Rugby Board eligibility regulations stipulate that a Russian grandparent includes any individual who was born in the old Soviet Union and were citizens of that nation, even though they might effectively come from one of the ‘new nations’ that subsequently separated from the mother country. The net can be cast very wide indeed.”
… and people criticize Rugby League for having heritage players. Interesting food for thought.

Once youve played for a nation in rugby, you arent allowed to switch. Does that happen in rugby league? Methinks not!

Because that was yeeeaaaars ago.
The rules in Rugby are different now and you cant switch.
Its about time Rugby league followed suit but there just arent enough quality players around these days so you have to let them switch so these random nations that dont even play the game, like scotland and ireland actually have a chance of filling their squads up.
