| Quote ="ash4hullfc"It wouldn't surprise me if yesterday was a message from the players to Ashley to get out of the club now, in case he had any ideas that we'd walk away with the Championship after a decent pre-season.'"
So even the team getting beat 6-1 by Orient is Ashley's fault?
Quote I wasn't comparing it, if you actually read what I said. I was making a point that friendlies mean nothing. Sheffield Wednesday battered you, but just couldn't put the ball away. They could easily have put three or four past you. Does it really matter? We beat Shamrock 3-0, Real Madrid beat them 1-0. On the basis of that, we're better than Madrid.
'"
Friendlies don't mean nothing. The results are clearly not that important, but when a side who've just been relegated from the Premier League get beaten 6-1 by a side in League One it suggests massive problems.
How do you think getting tanked 6-1 by Orient looks to potential buyers? They're not going to think it's Ashley's fault and rush to get in quicker to sort it out. They are going to see that you're team is full of ***** who are prepared to see themselves humiliated by Orient. Losing 6-1 doesn't make Ashley's departure more likely, it makes it less likely.
Shearer wants to be manager, yes? Do you think his case is made stronger by your side being thumped?
Many of the players in your squad will need to be sold when the new owners come in. Do you think it'll help to get a decent price when they're prepared to go on a virtual strike?
The only thing more embarrassing than getting beat 6-1 by Orient is your moronic attempt to put the blame on Ashley and dismiss it as meaningless. Yes, the result of losing to Orient doesn't mean anything, but the fact you got hammered means there are many people at your club that are clearly not doing the jobs they're supposed to do. No matter how many youth players you played, no matter what new systems the manager tried, no matter what turmoil the club is in, getting tanked 6-1 by Orient is completely and utterly unacceptable.

| Quote ="Cibaman"I'm not sure I'd want Terry on his terms. Not the money, but the level of control he wants. He appears to have a view of his position within the club as being above everyone else, including the Manager.
All this stuff about wanting assurances about which players Chelsea should sign, who should be the manager, asking for an option to become the manager when he retires etc. its just too much.'"
Many of the reports this summer have been that Chelsea would sell him if Citeh offered enough. There have been question marks over whether certain players would be staying, Didier Drogba being the most important. Ancelotti was something of an unknown quantity to us before we saw him work. Abramovich has clearly changed the approach of the club in terms of bringing in new players.
Given these factors, it would make sense for anyone to take a step back and really assess the situation.
As it turns out, it seems that Chelsea's public comments of not selling Terry looks like they were repeated to him. Didier Drogba, Ballack and Mikel have agreed new deals. The pre-season campaign has been top notch, which suggests Ancelotti could be a great manager for us. Chelsea may have assured Terry that new signings will be brought in if deals can be done.
Makalele said that JT was one of the major players in the removal of Mourinho. Mourinho denies that, JT denies that, the club deny that.
If JT was responsible for Grant and Scolari leaving - good. They needed to go.

I didn't say it was Ashley's fault, so as usual, your post is meaningless.
Two points that did make me chuckle, as well as the Ashley stuff:
Why would yesterday have any bearing on Shearer getting the job?
Secondly, what manager would that be who we played under yesterday. Oh, that's right, we don't have one.

Fighting in training? Wouldn't say Hughton has been undermined either, the players respect him, but know he's a soft touch compared to Shearer.
We've had offers, just none that have matched Ashley's evaluation of how much the club is worth.

Fair enough, I'd assumed that if Shearer really wanted the job he'd be sticking around to make the case for him being kept on stronger. Obviously he's standing by his awesome record of last season and putting his feet up instead.

It isn't as far fetched as it sounds, it was only a suggestion too. I saw the pre-season game against Huddersfield on Tuesday night, I don't see how we would just suddenly turn to tosh in just a few days.

Not seen it mate. The only journalist I have any respect for is George Caulkin, if it came from him, I'll believe it as he's more often than not spot on. If it was from Louise Taylor or Anal Oliver to name a couple, I wouldn't be so sure.

Alan Shearer was the manager at the end of last season. He got you relegated. At the moment his contract has ended, but the situation at the club is that no decisions of major size can be made because it's up to new owners to decide what they want. So that means that Newcastle United are left with Houghton in charge, who has shown pretty clearly that he's not up to managing those players.
If Alan Shearer was worthy of getting the job, he'd have stayed on as Caretaker Manager, even if it's unpaid (he was amply paid for taking you down, so he'd be taking the pi55 to take more money from Ashley). But that's not the Newcastle United way. Instead he just trumps off, leaving Houghton to flail, leaving the squad to pi55 around when they should be working. And the season is fast approaching. The club still could be weeks or months from a new owner, but everything's okay by you. You really think it'll be in the best interests of NUFC for there to be no manager in place until the club is sold?
The fact is if Shearer won't stay around during the transition then he doesn't deserve to be brought back when the new owners come in. But the sad fact for you is that no decent manager will want to come to your comedy club, so you'll probably have to stick with Shearer or run back to King Kevin again.

You have no idea how much.
I have a colleague who is a Chelsea season ticket holder. She came in to work the other day. Said 'hello', sat down. About 10 minutes later, stood up and started into a rant at me about how we could get away with 'tapping up' Terry.
Eventually I got a word or three in and pointed out that it isn't 'tapping up' when the club has made an official offer and the other club has made an official rejection. This deflated her, but you can hardly imagine the anger beforehand.

I'll say - he's largely been a joke since he left Barca (and shortly before to be fair) - it's all the more surprising considering he went to Milan who, I'm told, are famed for their physical conditioning of players.

Ferguson should not have said that Adebayor's agent had tried to broker a deal with United and Chelsea. I would have thought this kind of thing happens a lot, but managers don't go giving details of such dealings in the press.
I can't blame Adebayor's agent trying to get a batter deal. On the day he returned to training after a pre-season break, the player was told that Arsenal had accepted an offer from City. There's nothing wrong with his agent then looking at other options rather than simply accepting the first offer. Regardless, Ferguson should not have discussed this in the press.
As for us being 'small': I found that funny. I thought he was a master of mind games. Well, he lost this one. One-nil to Hughes.
One thing I have always liked about City fans, and the same can be said of Salford CR supporters, is that they have no problem laughing at themselves. However, judging by the views of the majority of United fans on the forums, they seem to believe that Ferguson never makes a mistakes and that he is a master of mind of games. It's as if he is some great thinker. He's not. He is a humourless, bully. A great manager but a persona non grata, whose outbursts are becoming increasingly embarrassing.

I just thought I would get other people's views about it.
I have always found Ferguson to be offensive. I would say that Hughes and our marketing team have got to him. Hughes' handling of ferguson's barbs have been exemplary. In his dealings with teh press, Hughes has been excellent, coming across as thoughtful and intelligent. His signings since he came to the club, have been very good. I just hope his tactics are spot on this coming season. Last year, he got some things wrong but I put that down to a 'lack of options'.

Hughes knows Fergie.
But Fergie is a man who is always best under pressure, and he may say some daft things, but he will also make his side back the talk up with results. That is why he has last so long and won so much.

My understanding is that it's the work of the fans but receives the blessing of the club.
Wasn't there some issue about the said banner obstructing advertisement at Old Trafford, but the club said that the banner could stay there permanently?
City fans have Welcome to Manchester banners at CoM. However, Ferguson hasn't mentioned those in the past. He's probably offended by the fact that MCFC were involved in the poster campaign. He said it was 'classless'. If he wants a great example of 'classless', he should try and remember the Munich '58 memorial poster that contained the name of the sponsor. That was probably as 'classless' as you can get.
People are now saying that Ferguson is belittling us, because he sees us as a threat, or he is playing some mind game. Nonsense. Ferguson knows his football, without a doubt. However, please don't give him any undeserved credit. He's not an intelligent man. He's an arrogant, humourless bully who lacks social skills.
