Confront was disappointing but Verdant appears to have answered some questions. Managed to watch some of the Sandown races whilst at Doncaster and backed Verdant which made up for a pretty average day at Doncaster where I backed only two winners and lost one of those in the stewards room.

Still struggling to understand how badly Hanoverian Baron run? Would love to see an explanation from trainer or jockey as to why the run was so poor.

What makes things more difficult to take is the fact that I backed Dangerous Midge in the race when I was at York which Hanoverian Baron won! Dangerous Midge was well beaten and about 15 lengths behind the winner that day and has finished nearly the same distance in front today.

So what explains nearly a 30 length turnaround in such a short space of time?

Saints lose by 4 ... Can't help feeling a touch hard done by with this one. I know injuries are part and parcel of the game but to lose one half back in the first half and the other early in the second after he had just helped establish an 8 point lead is tough.

Hanoverian Baron stumbled badly up the backstraight I think - the old adage "they're not machines" is to be used in this instance.

Backed Reve De Nuit myself who's looked a 12f horse in all his starts this season, just needs a stronger jockey than Declan Cannon riding him IMO.

Had the 1m handicap at Sandown whittled down to 3 runners - Coasting, Dunn'o and Black Spirit. Backed Coasting in the end going against one of my rules of if I can get it down to a certain number of runners and only have one bet make sure it's the biggest price. Coasting was 10/1, Dunn'o 14/1 and Black Spirit 33/1.

Bit of advice, please!

Placed a bet at a high street bookies yesterday for Flannery to score the first try in the Leeds - Saints game. At some time as the bet was being placed, betting was suspended (it was right on kick off time) - however, the slips taken, scanned in (so to all intents and purposes the bet was accepted?) and I have them.

I've been told today from the staff that the bet has returned my stake. I haven't handed over my slip though, as I'm intending challenging this.

Have I got a chance? The bet was taken in good faith, and there had been no score at the time the bet was placed (I know this because I walked from the bookies to the pub and they scored just as I got to the bar!) so it's not as if I've gained an advantage.

Which bookmaker was it with?

Do you have the time on the betting slip? ie. is it before or after the scheduled kick-off time, if after is it more than 5 minutes after?

I thought the rule was 30 seconds? That's what I was told in Coral the other day anyway.

Ladbrokes, the time on the slip was 17:46:06.

Worth checking the exact KO time if possible tbh - most firms will allow bets up to 5 minutes into the game providing there's been no score, Flannery scored after 2 minutes so I'd double check it all.

4.25 Grantsville 20/1 E/W - Ran to a decent mark of 119 when last over hurdles Townend on board again.

5.55 Viking Visitor 5/1 (betfair only 11/4 elsewhere) The Gordon Elliott horse could be anything and is a well backed 4/5 but Viking Visitor won well last time and gets weight today with same jockey

Can see us scoring alot of points today if Myler is back as our attack has been pretty good but its better with him playing as teams cant handle his speed over 20 metres and is backup play of the offload (last game he played was the Hudds 60-4 win) he came back and scored a couple for the under 20s last week.
10 tries in 12 SL games so far he's 11/1 for the hat-trick and 6/5 for anytime scorer will be backing both as soon as I know he is starting.
