Friendlies dont mean anything and are pointless imo but it must be worrying that they got beat so heavy against a club a league below and according to SSN had a full team out

It wouldnt surprise me if they do a derby and are fighting relegation all season as theres better teams than them in the Championship and the off field issues at Newcastle

I have to admit I think that Megson has made some good signings considering the money he has available. Sean Davis and Paul Robinson already signed.

They're not "pointless", but the main point of them is rarely as straightforward as a victory at any cost. And even less so at this stage of a pre-season.

City have lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs this afternoon – but there were some very strong plus points. Not least, in promising performances from Adebayor and Barry, plus Bellamy got 90 minutes under his belt. And Weiss, on as a sub, also made an impression. I still wonder if he's a little lightweight physically at this stage, but he has a lot of skill and pace.

It was a typical pre season friendly featuring players at varying degrees of half fitness.

Essentially it was City's team from last year, but without last year's best player, plus Adebayor & Barry.

Adebayor & Barry were easily our best players. They really fit perfectly into our line up. Adebayor showed how much we missed a target man who could hold the ball and link up play. I dont think we've had one of those since Joe Royle played for us. Barry strolled about but never put a foot wrong. Cant wait to see him playing behind a fully fit Robinho.

I'd say that Adebayor & Barry looked well capable of adding 10-12 points to our tally. And we've still got Tevez, Santa Cruz and a couple of defenders to come.

Knight is a very good signing for Bolton, think they could be eyeing a surprise top 8 finish similar to Fulham last year.

Davies won't repeat this year, Elmander looks a bit of a flop. They are reliant on Taylor, Cahill etc coming up with important goals. Whilst Fulham was a bit of a surprise, they spent over £20m on that strikeforce.

Bolton scored 41 league goals last year. Fulham scored 39 in finishing 7th.

Hope you're right. I'd happily settle for a top-half finish, anything above that will be a real bonus.
