Do me a favour mate and ask your Stoute insider if they are gonna stop messing about and actually win with Verdant tomorrow!

Been beaten favourite last twice after winning CD handicap on first start this season. Both times you could say the horse was unlucky not to finish closer or even win those two.

The first of those two it was in behind Green Moon and Monterosso who are both obviously better than handicap class and last time behind Dandino who looked another seriously progressive horse when following up at Royal Ascot.

Is the horse just a tricky customer or could Moore have done better the last twice?

When you think that this horse was favourite to beat horses as good as the above mentioned, then if things go right tomorrow 6/4 could look very nice indeed.

Be interested to hear what the view from the yard is!

My mate thinks he should win and has the ability too win, HOWEVER the person who rides him everyday has told my mate, that he's an absolute monkey.

So Verdant is a tricky customer, should win (has the ability too) but I wouldnt be staking large amounts at prohibitive odds. So its hard to give a definitive answer really.

In other news Confront has been working very well at home and at 10/3 bp.... I've had a decent-ish bet e/w

Not too sure myself, think it could be quite a cagey one. The Argentina - Germany game on the other hand, has goals written all over it. I might even take a chance on over 3.5 on that one.

I backed it this morning at 7/2. Horse was pulled out at approx 5.50pm, several bookmakers (including Bet365) refunded stakes. 6.15pm and the horse is back in, and it gets absolutely hammered in the betting, right down to 9/4. Some bookmakers (including Paddy Power) placed the money back on the horse on behalf of their members, while others (including Bet365) didn't bother.

Absolute disgrace, only in Ireland.

Admin error - to be fair it's happened before, more likely to be the PA or SIS to blame as they send the NR's to the bookmakers who then apply the Rule 4's and re-form the market. It happens quite a bit with South African racing and incorrect forecast dividends or the wrong results on the dogs and the like.

Not been in work today as at Sandown so wouldn't know if it's like that in this case - quite fancied King Rocco in the race after a staying on run in a nice enough Hunter Chase last time out but didn't back him.

Yeah it's massive odds-on an admin error, the winner was also locally trained in Wexford. Could be some fun and games with Coolnaleen in the coming months - with this first start over hurdles showing some ability the next two will no doubt be very quiet runs followed by a handicap defeat and then a gamble (IMO).

Would take a very close look at Leonard Whitmore's Glacial Promise in the Plate Trial on Sunday - looks a good horse to me and that run behind Loosen My Load could look top class this time next year. Think he's an improver with a massive shout on Sunday.

It is for me mate but as you know anything can happen in racing and come 25 to 4 it could quite easily have ran a stinker!

If you look at the horses profile though it always had the potential to be a good middle distance performer, initially trained in Ireland by John Oxx you just have to look at the horses 2nd career run to realise the horse had potential, this was the race readers view...



That was at Leopardstown over 7 furlongs and finishing a sh hd 2nd to Casual Conquest who went on to be placed in two derby's and win a group 1!

He then won his maiden next time out very easily and then only had 2 more starts for John Oxx before transferring to Dandy Nicholls. Despite the horses obvious potential to go better over further (after the running on strongly over 7f on the 2nd start) Nicholls ran the horse 3 times over 7 furlongs and then on the final start for him over 6 furlongs

.

The horse then joined Tony Newcombe who immediately stepped the horse up to 10 furlongs with success straight away. In 4 runs for Newcombe over longer trips he's managed 3 wins and a 2nd to Alainmaar (who I believe to be a group 1 horse) Alainmaar was admittedly giving lumps of weight when beating him, but that's the only defeat suffered since stepping up in trip and the horse is progressing with every run.

I was at York when he won last time in what was a competitive looking handicap, he travelled strongly all the way and took the running up a furlong or two out and ran on strongly to win a shade cosy IMO.

In off a featherweight today it will take something very special to prevent him scoring IMO.

I'm already on at 8's as I jumped straight in as soon as the betting opened as I've been checking daily on what the horse is up to since York!
