| Quote ="D.D."The jealousy does not extend to the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and probably even Chelsea fans who have taken our good fortune with good grace and have welcomed the challenge. The jealousy statement is aimed at the fans of those who were at the second tier of the Premier League, who wished it had been them receiving the billions instead of us. Fans of a particular blue shirted club two miles away from where I am at the moment spring to mind immediately here and, let me tell you, you are displaying the symptoms more than a leprosy victim carrying his own leg.
If you think that I said I would like to be up there for ten years and then that I want it to go tits up then you are obviously dimmer than a one watt bulb. What I quite clearly stated was that I would rather have that scenario than have another thirty years of achieving nothing, or virtually nothing. Obviously, we would all like us to reach the top and sustain that till the day we die, I was merely pointing out which of the other two options I would prefer.
Unless Everton get the financial backing, something not too far off the level we have got now, then you can carry on dreaming. You will never be ready to break the big four and sustain it. Without bucket loads of cash, you cannot hope to achieve anything. That's a simple fact. You've probably already reached a plateau and the only way for Everton now is downhill.'"
We've reached a plateau of 5th? Devo'd at that.
Everton are a model club that every other time outside the top 4 should strive to be like. Proving that hard work gets results. Its not all about spedning big money. See Newcastle, Leeds, Tottenham et al.
Thing is, hard work has got us to were we are now and we have the ambition for greater things.
Man City needed £ for your ambition.
Thing is, i'd love us to have City's money, simple as. But we haven't. But that doesn't mean were spiraling out of control like you suggest.

The initial Race Relations Act (1976) is often referred to as the 'Race Discrimination Act'. Has been for years. Many still refer to it as the Race Discrimination Act to avoid confusion with the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.

People can refer to it as Susan for all I care, the reality is that there is no such piece of legislation and people who think otherwise are wrong. What misinformed people call the Race Relations Act doesn't really matter.
I just thought it was funny that you got it wrong having refused to speak to somebody about it because they didn't 'know as much about it' as you do.
Anyway, I'm back off to my place in Pedant's Corner.

| Is there any explanation as to why he's been found not guilty?
The BBC report says this: [iA jury at Liverpool Crown Court agreed with Mr Gerrard's assertion that he was acting in self-defence. [/i
That simply cannot be true.

| I'm glad I reserved judgement originally. I feel sorry for Gerrard having to put up with people offering him out all the time. I wonder if McGee has apologised for being overly aggressive towards him?
Either that or the jury are all Liverpool fans.

| Its that pesky "beyond reasonable doubt" thing again.
The problem with relying on CCTV evidence is that 1) you cannot hear what the bloke was saying to Gerrard or his tone of voice 2) those grainy images cannot pick up subtle nuances of body language which [umight[/u make you think someone is about to thump you.

I would hardly say it's taken a massive hit. It will all be forgotton about in a few months. Most people will have forgotton about what happened to Terry all those years ago, and his reputation is fairly decent. Well, to everyone bar Ledley King that is.

One of the best achievements of any team last year. I don't doubt that.
Doesn’t mean fans had an entertaining time. I cannot believe that Everton fans in any season in the last 10 years had as much entertainment as City fans had when Keegan was boss in Div (i.e. Championship).
Someone said on here I hate 'Everton'. I don't. I dislike United, Spurs and Leeds, and possibly Oldham and Portsmouth.
I do find Everton's football-style boring. I went to watch them play Spurs at White Hart Lane. I was hoping you would win. However, I thought the antics of your players – diving around anywhere within 40 yards of goal – was disgraceful. You were desperate to win free-kicks and from there put high balls into the box. Fair enough if you have a set-piece taker like Arteta and players who are effective in the air. However, in terms of entertainment, it was dire to watch. It wasn’t as bad as watching City under Pearce, but it wasn’t far off. But then Pearce had kids and no money at all. Certainly nowhere near as much as Everton have spent.

You crack me up.
You referred to a piece of legislation that didn't exist. I pointed it out. You did get it wrong. You now appear to be arguing that, simply because it came first it's somehow called the Race Discrimination Act.
Your attempts to argue to the contrary do you a disservice.

I assume this post is because you are cross because I pointed out that there is no such thing as the Race Discrimination Act? You really are making yourself look rather silly here.

Our football can be boring at times but if you think all we do is hoof the ball then you clearly haven't been watching many Everton games over the past 3-4 years. We play the ball on the floor and play a passing game.
But I'd rather win 1-0 and play boring than lose 4-3 in an 'entertaining game'.
